Requirements:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor degree preferably with finance major
Minimum experience:
10 + years of risk management experience; experience of credit risk management is a must
Remedial management or workout experience
Credit Underwriting
- Take a decision (Approve/decline) on the credit proposals within his/her delegated Credit Approval Authority (CAA) and recommend credit proposals to the relevant CAA in Head Office where proposal exceeds delegated CAA.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory guidelies, Bank's credit policies & procedures, risk appetite as well as best industry practices, while approving/recommending credit;
- Guide business units in facility structuring, identification of risks & mitigants, as well as in presentation of credit proposals/product programs (if any).
Asset Quality and Portfolio Management
- Ensure credit portfolio diversification in line with Risk Appetite Statement (RAS).
- Review periodic exception reports covering EOL, Past Due obligations, deficiencies in documentation and follow up on regularization with the Business Teams.
- To review Early Warming Checklist (EWC) to identify early warning signals and opt for adequate remedy in addition to arranging Early Alert Committee (EAC).
Development and implementation of Policies & Procedures
- Ensure that the risk management policies & procedures are fully and effectively implemented within the country
- Liaison with Policy & Governance Team in International Risk, Head Office to develop any amendments/addendums in the Global Policies to comply with the local regulations and market practices
- Review the credit related product programs (if any) and recommend for approvals.
Market & Liquidity Risk
- Oversee the treasury Middle Office function
- Monitor adherence to policies/regulatory guidelines and Risk Appetite Statement (RAS)
- Oversee preparation of MIS for timely reporting of the market risk profile to in-country/HOK Senior management and regulator;
- Ensure data integrity and review processes from time to time.
Operational & Fraud Risk
- Oversee the operational and fraud risk functions;
- Monitor adherence to policies / regulatory guidelines and RAS;
- Oversee OR or fraud incident and KRIs reporting.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable local banking regulations as well as with the bank's credit policies, procedures and RAS;
- Ensure that gap analysis is performed in case of issuance/amendment in / of regulations/guidelines and internal policies/procedures are updated accordingly;
- Address deficiencies / gaps highlighted by BRR and internal/external/regulatory audits.
People Management
- Motivate and mentor direct reports and team members in working towards common goals;
- Engage team members by scheduling internal department meetings to identify common challenges, to address individual staff issues and problems facing them, as well as to escalate to Senior Management and HR when necessary;
- Identify training and development needs of the staff and have a succession planning mechanism in place to ensure smooth operations;
- Conduct performance appraisals of direct reports in line with bank's HR policies as well as make recommendations regarding rewards/promotions
