Join our team and explore this exciting opportunity to join the Macquarie Capital (MacCap) Finance team within our Financial Management Group. You will join a team that is part of a global advisory and financial control function with the opportunity to provide advise to the business on new and existing transactions, ongoing transaction lifecycle management, and operational accounting and control functions in Macquarie Capital.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Accounting for global MacCap principal investments, including equity accounting for associate investments
  • Preparation of monthly investment reports for MacCap
  • Preparation of MacCap foreign currency hedging exposure reports
  • Provide inputs for monthly management reporting including analysis of balance sheet and commentary by transaction
  • Management, Financial and Tax reporting: provide assistance to corporate centre teams with preparation of Australian tax returns and financial reports
  • Ad hoc analysis, reporting and transaction analysis
  • Answering queries from Deal Management, global Finance teams and central Finance areas.
  • Manage regulatory reporting obligations and ensure compliance with internal policy requirements
  • Support MacCap resilience planning and testing activities and Ad hoc project participation and management
  • Liaison with asset managers and asset level accounting teams for investments held.
  • Interaction with Deal Management team.
  • Liaison with overseas accountants, MacCap finance teams and central Finance areas.
You will also be involved in:

The overall MacCap Finance team's responsibilities include:
  • Monthly management reporting relating to investments
  • Financial Control function for the MacCap business
  • Ongoing accounting responsibility for the various MacCap investments (subsidiaries, associates, term loans, FVTPL equity and debt investments)
  • Establishment and review of accounting and financial control procedures offshore and in Australia
  • Coordination and review of deliverables/submissions to central finance teams
  • Assisting with the monthly foreign exchange hedging together with MacCap business team.
  • Provide information and support to group tax teams (direct and indirect taxes).
  • Coordination of the MacCap transfer pricing.
  • Investment performance tracking and analysis.
  • Financial Control wide projects.
To be successful in this role, you will have a formal accounting qualification (Chartered Accountant or equivalent is preferred), with at least 4-5 years of post-qualification experience in a chartered or commercial environment and experience within financial services would be an additional benefit.

You will also have:
  • initiative and follow through on issues with minimal supervision
  • the ability to tailor verbal, listening and written communication skills to deal with staff across all levels and offshore office staff
  • the ability to establish strong working relationships with the business and other areas of the group
  • strong client service and risk management focus
  • strong accounting background with an ability to apply technical knowledge in a transaction environment.
  • ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing deadlines.
