Sr. Cyber Defense Engineering - Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

Position Summary

This is a perfect opportunity for the right person to become a member of a cyber defense team in protecting the nation's critical infrastructure. The Sr. Cyber Defense Engineer will be a member of the data, application and forensic engineering tower. This role will be responsible for cyber defense capability of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technology and processes. Working closely with teammates within cyber defense and technology infrastructure and operations, this engineer will be responsible for the engineering, deployment, maintenance and enhancement of the DLP infrastructure and content rules.

Position Responsibilities
  • Design, Implement, Maintain DLP platform such as CASB for interactive web browser sessions and file uploads. Also including Email DLP technology to quarantine emails that violate info sec policies. This includes creating and maintaining DLP policies to allow sensitive data exchanges by approved users.
  • Maintain industry awareness of the Cyber Defense product landscape, emerging and rising threat landscape and the latest/newest protocols/techniques/evolution in Cyber Security with a focus on Data Protection / Data Loss Prevention.
  • Reviews and matures DLP capability for interactive web sessions, data file uploads, email, user end points.
  • Create complete documentation such as technical requirement documents, Proof of Concept use cases, technology engineering documents, service operations guides, standard operating procedures.
  • Lead responses to complex inquiries from consumers of the DLP applications, liaison with appropriate vendors and participate in technical root cause analysis and operational handover processes.
  • Hands-on engagement during DLP applications incidents to identify and tune ineffective DLP rules and unexpected operations. Implement acceptable work-arounds until permanent fixes can be implemented.
  • Coordinate and review engagements with Information Governance and cross functional team to address workflow process and audits.
  • Manage projects according to project plans with a keen eye to objective delivery, cost adherence and minimizing risk.

Experience Requirements
  • 6 - 8 years experience with data protection and cloud tooling (DLP, Data Security, Encryption and CASB)
  • Solid working knowledge of ITIL (ITIL Certification preferred)
  • A good understanding of Industry Security standards (ie: ISO27001/2, NIST Cyber Security Framework, etc.)
  • Proven experience of information protection and data classification technologies, concepts and techniques to classify unstructured and structured data both on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; must build strong relationships with partners (internally and externally)
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
  • Proven execution capabilities. Willingness to creatively ensure mission success. Ability to work under pressure, owning and meeting critical deadlines.


Formal Education, Certifications and Competencies
  • BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, or Information Systems or related work experience
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or equivalent certifications a plus
