The EMEA Data Governance Specialist will improve data governance through transformation and data programme deliveries in the EMEA region . The individual will be responsible for working with key businesses, products and functions to drive measurable improvements in data quality and ensure alignment and consistency of approach across multiple entities.
The position requires a good understanding of the strategic direction of Citi's Global Data Programme and broader businesses to identify near and long-term data priorities that deliver tangible improvements in commercial processes and regulatory reporting. The role also includes responsibility for driving components of the Legal Entity based BCBS 239 programmes by partnering with business counterparts in the regions. Excellent communication skills are required in order to communicate and negotiate internally, often at a senior level. External communication/presentation with regulatory bodies and additional 3rd parties is also a possibility.
This is very much a 'hands on' role which will require elements of business analysis, root cause analysis and evaluation of solutions to improve data quality within EMEA entities. Close collaboration with global functions such as Finance, Risk and Technology will be required, and this role will likely interface with 2nd/3rd Line of Defence teams so previously experience in this regard would be advantageous. The role will report to the EMEA Data Governance Lead.
Responsibilities:
• Programme Manage the delivery of EMEA legal entity focused data governance activities, principles, policy, practices and standards.
• Execution of data strategy, engage and mobilise business/product/function partners and their respective Data Governance Officers.
• Daily delivery / SME on data specific projects (e.g. SME on BCBS 239 and other Strategic Projects).
• Develop and Coordinate Materials for Board and Senior Management meetings, as well as discussions with regulators.
• Leverage UK/EMEA Data and Transformation Team (DGO) support and manage relationships with business and functional leaders to drive progress on Legal Entity data quality initiatives.
• Engage and work with a wide set of Citi constituents and data providers to mobilise and implement data quality solutions.
• Management/oversight of project plans, issues lists, and key metrics that ensure programme delivery and efficiency.
• Influence and collaborate with a matrixed team of employees and consultants across multiple locations to deliver on above requirements.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation.
• Safeguard EMEA legal entities, their clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
• Adhere with Citi project/PMO standards for delivery updates, progress, risks.
Experience / Competencies:
• Significant banking or financial services experience.
• Experience with cross-functional / business delivery, ideally with a large data component.
• Project/Programme management experience.
• Experience with data programs, including BCBS 239 Principles, Data Governance practices and policies.
• Excellent executive communications skills.
• Business analysis experience and ability to break complex problems into bitesize chunks.
• Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with large, complex and diverse teams.
• Ability to influence projects with multiple constituents across organisations whilst ensuring quality delivery to agreed deadlines.
• Experience in industry best practices related to data management.
