Job Description:
As a business development / sales trader in IED, you will play an instrumental role in the development of revenue-driven business relationships with institutional investor clients (mutual funds, hedge funds, etc.), as well as distribution of Equity Capital Markets (ECM) transactions (IPOs, follow-on offerings) managed by OCBC.
The ideal candidate is one with a ready list of client contacts - preferably middle-market funds (with US$50m - 1b AUM) in the Singapore / Hong Kong / ASEAN geographies. You must have a hustle mindset, with strong understanding and knowledge of markets, client needs and requirements. This will involve working closely with the client's trading / investment personnel, updating them on markets and flows, providing them with trade ideas, as well as marketing ECM transactions managed by OCBC.
This role is set in an entrepreneurial environment where the candidate is expected to be self-starting and disciplined to thrive well in, while working closely with our partners in equities, middle office, onboarding, compliance, finance, risk management and ECM syndicate.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Develop a highly performant client base by identifying institutional investor clients to onboard and trade with OSPL, while maintaining existing relationships
  • Provide comprehensive coverage (actionable market / company updates, trade ideas, flows, etc.) according to clients' requirements and servicing preferences
  • Generate trading flows and commissions and be responsible for the trade execution process
  • Market and perform new issue order-taking for ECM transactions and support corporate access activities (non-deal roadshows, etc.) as may be required

  • 3 - 5 years of equity sales trading experience in a dynamic, institutional environment
  • Ideally established relationships with middle-market funds (long-only, hedge funds) in the Singapore / Hong Kong / ASEAN geographies
  • Possesses intellectual curiosity, with strong understanding and knowledge of macro / markets, equity / ECM products, exchange & trading regulations
  • Self-starting and disciplined with a hustle mindset to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Good knowledge of onboarding and trade execution front-to-end processes
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Strong inter-personal skills to work collaboratively with internal & external partners
  • Familiarity with equity trading systems
