Position Overview

This is a key role within PIMCO's European Legal team and will focus on providing transactional legal services supporting PIMCO's European alternatives investment fund complex. The role is based in London, where there is a small but experienced team of senior lawyers and legal associates. The role will report to PIMCO's Senior Counsel for the Alternatives Legal team based in London.

This role requires an experienced commercial real estate debt lawyer with a first class intellect. The ideal candidate will have experience, both from the lender and borrower side, in the negotiation, drafting, structuring and diligence of European CRE debt transactions (both in loan and bond formats) as well as experience with other structured finance transactions such as securitisations.

The candidate should be well versed in laws and regulations applicable to the finance industry and will be expected to partner closely with the business, including product, finance, operations, tax, compliance and other colleagues.

Lawyers with relevant experience whether in-house or private practice will be considered.

Key areas of responsibility will include:
  • Review and negotiation of investment-related transactional documentation including facility agreements, intercreditor agreements and security documents and advising the internal business team on the legal implications;
  • Coordination of external transaction counsel
  • Implementation of internal projects to improve efficiency of internal business structure; and
  • Coordination of processes with key internal and external stakeholders including client facing teams, internal committees, funds team, business management, service providers and external counsel.
As well as the above, the role will involve general legal support for the functioning and processes of the legal team and the servicing of its clients.

Desirable Experience:
  • Experience of European real estate finance investments (both lender and borrower side), loan portfolio acquisitions and securitisation structures would be advantageous
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory aspects of the business including lender licensing, securitisation regulations (including risk retention) and AIFMD
  • Financial services / asset management industry experience would be advantageous
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • High degree of personal and professional integrity
  • Ability to organise and deliver under tight reporting deadlines
