The Senior Director, Manager Research will be responsible for leading a small team to provide top quality research and investment analysis, leading the manager selection process and conducting ongoing due diligence for fixed income and multi-asset investment products. This position will also manage third-party partner relationships, interact directly with portfolio managers, generate concise, well-written research, effectively communicate with senior leaders, provide thought leadership on new product development and contribute to cross organizational projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct autonomous, comprehensive investment research, analysis and manager selection for assigned coverage areas. This includes the use of qualitative and quantitative techniques to evaluate investment managers and associated products. At times, this may include portfolio management responsibilities and/or general securities analysis and support.
  • Hold direct research coverage for fixed income and multi-asset investment products.
  • Prepare written reports that identify trends, opportunities, and recommendations related to assigned coverage area.
  • Communicate investment information concisely both in writing and verbally to a variety of constituents, including the Investment Committee, wholesaling team, clients and advisors.
  • Oversee and drive strategic projects related to business goals. Act as a subject matter expert on cross-organizational projects.
  • People leadership responsibilities including coaching, goal setting, 1:1 meetings, written reviews, compensation, etc.
  • Lead across the organization to share information and resolve issues. Support wholesaling initiatives, product development and marketing/communications.
  • Actively manage relationships with external partners which includes regular communication on product performance, due diligence and operational issues.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience)
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Prior manager research experience
  • Attention to detail and strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to extract and analyze information
  • Strong quantitative skills with the ability to combine investment knowledge and technical expertise to produce effective results
  • Experience with analytical software (Excel, FactSet, Morningstar Direct)
  • Experience managing professional relationships with third party institutions
  • Expertise in asset allocation, manager combinations and portfolio structuring
  • Active Series 7 or the ability to obtain within 120-days of hire date


Preferred Qualifications

  • People leadership experience
  • Portfolio management experience
  • CFA, CAIA, CIMA, CFP and/or CPA preferred.
