The Role:

Our SSA Team is looking for an Associate (Credit Research) to be based in either Mumbai or Gurgaon. Strong financial modeling skills, an analytical nature, and strong written and verbal communication skills are paramount.

The candidate should be capable of undertaking surveillance credit coverage of a defined list of Issuers and work collaboratively with team globally.

Candidates with experience in covering Sovereigns and Financial Institutions, with a focus on national banks, central banks, development banks, supranational organizations, broker-dealers, asset managers, and investment banks will be preferred.

Those with good exposure to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) assessment will be highly regarded.

The role is part of our Global Credit team and can be based either in Mumbai or Gurgaon and will report to manager locally.

  • Fundamental credit research on a defined list of Issuers. Ability to make an informed view on absolute credit risk, direction so that the research can be used by Senior Analysts/Portfolio Managers.
  • Preparing and maintaining/updating models and focusing on key KPIs like capital adequacy, asset quality, liquidity metrics, among others.
  • Writing Credit reports and preparing earnings summaries
  • Maintaining comparative company analysis
  • Participating in conference calls, industry conferences, and discussions with management/rating agencies
  • Preparing questions for management
  • Dialing into road shows and updating views on new issuances
  • Ensuring continued connectivity with investment teams, BCM and other key stakeholders.
  • Working on ad-hoc projects based on topical issues/trends/reforms impacting the asset class.
  • Preparing industry databases and sections of thematic reports and presentations

  • Motivated team player and flexible in approach with ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - present ideas in a clear, concise, and constructive manner
  • Strong Excel, financial modelling, and analytical skills
  • MBA or equivalent qualification in Finance with superior academic record; CFA will be an added advantage
  • Experience in writing credit reports
  • Excellent credit skills demonstrated through prior relevant experience (6 to 9 years) working as a research analyst
  • Familiarity with financial databases like Bloomberg, Capital IQ, etc
