The role is for a Tech Lead within the Commodities Technology Market Data team, reporting to global head of data & analytics in London. The team develops and supports a strategic platform which manages, stores and distributes internal and external market data for the commodities business. This covers data published and used by front office trading as well as EOD & Intraday settlement data used across the group for risk and pricing computations.
Applications range from in-house developed software to third party applications such as ZEMA. We are looking to expand the size of the team which is currently around 12 people globally across London , Houston and Pune. This person will manage a team of eight people split across .NET and JAVA components.

Our roles offer motivated candidates the chance to engage with our trading and sales teams and learn the vital role market data plays in trading a wide range of commodities financial and physical products and asset classes. Beyond market data, we offer the chance to gain experience of real-time pricing and risk techniques.

Citi are now one of the largest players in the banking sector in Commodities, having grown rapidly over the past five years and we have plans to further develop our Commodities platform. Our technology challenges are therefore fast-moving and varied.

  • Manage the workload and motivate the development team in Pune but remain technically hands on committing code. In particular, help drive and be accountable for major technical architectural decisions and establish a strategic roadmap
  • Business requirements gathering and building detailed knowledge on how market data is used, processed and accessed by users and consumer applications.
  • Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
  • Familiarisation with pricing , risk and analytics functionality and work with the quant team on the evolution of the ComLib analytics pricing library.
  • Define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements.
  • Resolve variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes and system processes.
  • Adhere to standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
  • Work as part of global team on wider initiatives but also take on pro-active responsibility for Pune based project deliveries.
  • Maintain L2 support for market data systems and build strong relationships with our users.
Technical/Functional expertise Required:
  • Good experience in server side programming using C#, WCF + Workflow based validation.
  • Additionally experience in Python 2.7 or above preferred
  • Proven experience in high volume data distribution & sourcing related projects. Any experience in data modelling would be advantageous.
  • Prior experience on Commodities or Capital Markets domain & exposure to Trade life cycle, risk system would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to Java, C++ (Desirable)
  • Exposure on GUI development using WPF (Desirable)
  • Exposure to Micro Services framework & usage of any Micro services orchestration frame work would be advantageous.
  • Very strong and motivated to use industry best practices in software development(TDD)
  • Experience in SQL & RDBMS concepts + Good understanding on NoSQL DB concepts.
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience - ideally within Computer Science
