The Firm
My client is a top ASX listed company with interests across energy retailing, power generation, upstream oil and gas exploration and production, coal seam gas, renewable energy and infrastructure management. They are the original vertically integrated major energy retailer, with ownership over significant oil and gas fields, the largest owner and developer of gas fired electricity generation in Australia and a leading wholesaler and retailer of energy. They are also an early mover across energy transition and are leading the charge into new clean energy technology.
With access to significant deal pipeline and activity, including partnerships with sophisticated overseas investors, my client is looking to hire a Senior Strategy Analyst for one of their main business lines to be based in Brisbane.
The Role
The Senior Strategy Analyst will be a part of a small team with responsibility for the performance of one of the firm's major business lines. The role will play a pivotal role in setting the strategic direction of the business, identifying performance insights and driving a continual performance uplift in line with the firm's growth ambitions. This role will also have responsibility for delivering these performance insights to internal and external stakeholders and ensuring internal alignment to the strategic plans that have been set. Some of the team's, and this individual's, key responsibilities will include
• Taking ownership of the annual refresh & development of the overall business' strategic plan, including tracking performance against key strategic metrics & initiatives & holding the business to account for delivering on this strategy
• Analysis of the financial & operational performance of business & developing critical business insights
• Brief senior executives on business performance results, key issues & strategic initiatives, working with multiple stakeholders to provide insights & recommendations
• Building and/or using financial models to assess commercial outcomes of proposed initiatives under various scenarios
• Providing support as required for any strategic and/or M&A initiatives
The Candidate
The successful candidate will fit the following criteria:
• ~4-7 years' experience in corporate advisory, investment banking, Big 4 Transaction Advisory, corporate development/corporate strategy or similar
• Experience in analysing financial or operational information, drawing insights & making recommendations based on that analysis
• Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, economics or similar
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact & prepare materials for individuals at all levels of an organisation, including executives
• Capacity to understand & apply a commercial focus
• Ability to work autonomously & as part of a team
Applicants must have full working rights for Australia to be considered.
