The Retail SMA Oversight team is seeking a leader responsible for the oversight of the operations of the for the SMA business distributed externally to RIAs, Wirehouses and other intermediaries. This individual will engage and partner with diversified global business counterparts, to deliver a best-in class client experience and to define solutions that enable and scale the business.

For every trade agreed, every new product launched, or market entered, every transaction completed, it is Operations that develops the processes and controls that make the business flow.

The Retail SMA Oversight team sits within the Asset & Wealth Management and has primary responsibility of client's portfolio account event, position and cash management, risk management and innovative solutions, and serves as the single point of contract for all operations related client inquiries. Functions cover a wide range of clients and a complex product range, which includes equities, fixed income, currency, and derivatives. The group supports portfolio managers, sales and trading and client relationship professionals by providing accurate and timely client account information and overseeing all aspects of operational risk across AWM's Retail portfolios.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Lead and oversee the global retail SMA oversight team supporting the SMA business distributed externally to RIAs, Wirehouses and other intermediaries
  • This leader will also oversee the global federated Operations teams who support the third party SMA business including client on-boarding, portfolio reconciliation, trade settlement, performance reporting, and billing teams
  • Engage with several stakeholders across Portfolio management, Service, Operations leadership, Sales, Product and Engineering to enable the growth and distribution of the SMA product across new platforms
  • Architect the integration and operating model for each of these new platforms / sponsors
  • Deep understanding of the SMA landscape, industry operation models including the various sponsors, platforms, custodians and vendors
  • Drive business goals and objectives to ensue that the operating model, and Operations organization can deliver on the evolving business
  • Key contributor to the development of a scalable operating model for the SMA business
  • Oversee key vendor relationships essential to the SMA business
  • Manage risks and propose solutions through oversight / creation of key metrics and controls.
  • Develop the retail and service mindset within AWM operations
  • Strategic thinker with strong operating and planning skills. Capable of identifying and interpreting wider-ranging issues and can recommend creative & innovative solutions
  • Act as a culture carrier, ensuring team members are enthusiastic about their roles, while guiding and promoting the careers of team members through mentorship and delivery of effective feedback
Preferred Qualifications
  • Over 10 years of experience in managing a global operations team and developing a scalable operating model
  • Experience with SMA/UMA landscape and vendors in this space
  • Deep understanding of the operating model of the various sponsors, platforms, and custodians in this space
  • Strong leadership and people development skills experienced in operating within a high growth global business
  • Leverage data and metrics to drive decisions and investments

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $100000-$235000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
