Job Purpose:

As a key member of APAC Business Expense Transparency (Transactional Expense) team, the individual will be focused on Expense Efficiency and Financial Analysis for Citi's ICG transactional (Brokerage, Clearing and Exchange - BCE) cost base. The BCE Expense Efficiency analyst will be responsible for identifying and driving expense reduction opportunities across the ICG organisation. This will involve a combination of leading and/or collaborating with Operations, Technology, Network Management and the various Business lines to achieve a successful outcome.

Role will be primarily focused on expenses in the APAC region but will require constant communication with colleagues in North America and Europe as a lot of the expense drivers straddle multiple Regions.

Key Responsibilities:

Expense Efficiency and Analysis :
  • Evaluate current global and regional expense management programs to identify potential opportunities for cost savings, recommend changes to optimize trade flow strategies to drive Citi's efforts to maximize profitability and improve expense efficiency and transparency across the region.
  • Identify potential save opportunities, both through your own deep-dives and in conjunction with the Businesses & Operations.
  • Provide oversight and/or subject matter expertise within region required to execute global initiatives at the regional level, analyze global financial data, and standardize global reporting working with the expense analytics team
  • Perform analytics assessments of historical and projected data, identify key drivers of cost/cost increases, and make appropriate recommendations for cost saving opportunities
  • This team leverages financial product expertise to identify and implement initiatives that target the creation of efficiencies along the entire life trade, from execution to settlement.
  • Analyse expense categories and general ledger details, developing analysis to highlight category trends to support expense reduction initiatives.
  • Assist in developing analysis and reports which will help Expense reductions & better explain to Divisional COOs, P&L controllers, and expense category managers, expense trends, variances, impact of savings initiatives, and forecast details
Financial Reporting:
  • Work with Transaction Expense Managers to ensure timely production of Monthly BCE financial transparency reports, cost driver analytics, vendor analysis, dashboards & metrics development for senior management meetings and presentations.
Project Support & Decision Making:
  • Support ad hoc BCE inquiries and analysis.
  • Support the overall BCE team, both from a Regional & Global perspective to align the requirements and opportunities within each Region to the common goals of the Global team
  • Participate in the development and integration of VarCiti (Financial and Trade Analytic tool developed by BCE team)
Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Education:
  • High degree of numeracy, strong attention to detail/accuracy, an analytical approach to tasks and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to understand complex data and condense into key themes, preparing recommendations for category management action.
  • Self-starter, able to manage several tasks simultaneously and deliver to deadlines with minimal supervision as well as being adaptable to short deadlines and moving deliverables.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong partnership with stakeholders
  • Strong presentation and negotiating skills, experience of dealing with Front Office businesses and facing off to Senior Management & external vendors
  • Understanding of Investment and consumer banking products traded including Fixed Income, Currencies, Commodities and Equities
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and knowledge of Microsoft Access systems highly beneficial
  • Familiarity with Citi systems and process would be advantageous
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of work experience in the financial industry
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
