Platform Engineer - New York- Market-Leading Global Hedge Fund

Industry-leading market maker using innovative and cutting-edge technology, with data at the core of the investment process. Great opportunity for talented software engineers with strong Java skills to join the team developing solutions which enable investment professionals to efficiently extract insights from data.

Working in partnership with trading, quant research and data science teams, you'll be responsible for designing, developing & deploying complex solutions - including ownership of the ingestion transformations (SQL, Kafka, Python/C++/Java) and interface (API, schema design, events). You'll also drive the evolution of the data strategy: identifying opportunities to enhance the platform and challenge the status quo.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, who is keen to get stuck in from day one, ideally with experience of/interest in financial markets.

Requirements

• 5+ years' professional software development experience
• Must have Java experience; C++ and/or Python also useful
• Experience dealing with ambiguous, high-impact problems, and architecting solutions
• Good exposure to data, including accurately modeling and analyzing complex systems, e.g. publicly traded company, commodity market, financial instruments
• Bonus points for Apache Airflow, Kafka, Docker or Kubernetes
• Minimum bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
