As a Barclays Senior Connectivity Developer, you will join a team within Equities QPS (Quantitative Prime Services) Technology focused on building out the functionality and technology of the SubM Native systems for our flagship low latency hardware accelerated product offering. This is to ensure we are giving ultra-low latency to a very niche domain of very high volume and low latency sophisticated Equites trading clients which include mostly Hedge funds as well as develop Cash Connectivity Platform for our Equities Cash Business.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?

• Designing and developing of industry-leading, ultra-low-latency Equities trading systems
• Acting as Lead taking up the full responsibility of the multiple deliveries at a time
• Being an SME for Business/ Desk and providing estimates for tasks including design, development, and testing
• Taking care of holistic simulation and testing of the trading system for high reliability
• Supporting the product development throughout the lifecycle working along with the analysis, testing, and operations teams
• Participating in code reviews and architectural decisions
• Mentoring, training and developing junior developers
• Interacting with both senior Front Office Trading and Sales stakeholders at the Director and Managing Director level across multiple regions

What we're looking for:

• Excellent JAVA experience, programming skills for developing low latency system specially for APAC markets
• Hands on experience of developing Sub Micro low latency trading systems and writing Java code for multithreaded server applications and performance tuning techniques on Linux
• Good scripting skills using Python, Perl or similar, work experience in Linux and knoweldge of higher-level Computer Science concepts such as data structures and algorithms
• Working experience, working closely in the regional and global team structure

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Proven experience in working in the Investment banking, working with directly with Traders and Desk Heads
• Advanced expertise in computer networks, computer architecture, and operating systems like Linux
• Industry experience on C++ or Working on languages like SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL on FPGAs etc is a plus
• Degree in Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
