Who we are looking for
State Street's Business Risk Management function is an independent function within the first line of defense . The Business Risk team acts as a valued partner to the Global Delivery and Investment Services businesses in the UK and ME in the identification, assessment and mitigation of risk, whilst cultivating practices which enable a balance of business unit performance with risk and compliance objectives. You will work across the organization to identify and drive solutions in support of risk management activities and aim to develop and enhance the overall control environment. In this role, you will also interact with global teams across the various functions within the three lines of defense and also in conjunction with clients and third parties, which will require effective communication skills. The team members responsibilities include, but are not limited to supporting risk assessments, attending governance committees, conducting process and control analysis, reviewing incidents, policies and procedures and acting as a risk partner in consideration to new products, regulatory change or business projects..

What you will be responsible for:
As a Business Risk Officer you will:
  • Understand business risk matters across products and services within the IS and GD business lines in order to provide a holistic view of risks with accountability to local management
  • Provide requisite support to local leadership for implementation of the appropriate governance committees/forums, monitoring and reporting to manage the risk profile of UK given its business activities and the local regulatory requirements
  • Act in an supporting or advisory capacity to ensure the accuracy and timely reporting of risk information to management to make informed risk decisions.
  • Support risk assessment and reductions initiatives which includes, but is not limited to Issues Management and Incident Management, Risk Assessment (RCSA), KRI analysis, Process and Control Reviews, Client Reporting, Due Diligence, Policy and Regulatory Change reviews
  • Ensure global risk management practices and programs are implemented based on applicability for the entity with oversight of any third party relationships. Identify opportunities to refine LE/Country specific requirements and harmonize global best practices
  • Partner with the second and third lines of defense in support of local risk and control initiatives and face off with local regulators, clients or external auditors to articulate a risk view across the LE's.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree level or related accreditations i.e. IRM, FRM, CISI, ICA, ACCA etc
  • Experience in Risk, Compliance, Audit or related Governance role(s) (preferred)
