Risk & Compliance - Wholesale Credit Risk Management

We are seeking a high-calibre professional to join the team as Senior Climate Risk Execution Manager - overall regional execution lead for the Climate Risk programme.
Climate Risk is a key programme being initiated across the Bank at Group level and regionally to address the regulatory and operational demands against the rapidly growing Climate Risk and sustainable finance agenda. With an increasing global focus on both Climate Risk and the need to combat both the adverse effects of climatic changes, as well as the transition to a low carbon economy - the Bank has to ensure operational and regulatory readiness in this rapidly changing environment.
This role will be based in HK to provide holistic coverage across change activities relating to Climate Risk - which is a multi-year programme.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our department as Senior Climate Risk Execution Manager.

Role Purpose
The Climate Risk programmes is a High Priority Change programme and a key focus for the Risk function. The programme covers multiple workstreams and the successful candidate will be able to effectively execute all initiatives under the programme. The role will be located in HK and will be key to drive the initiatives at pace under the Climate Risk/ESG workstream.

Principal responsibilities
  • Role responsible for execution for Climate Risk programme and associated delivery priorities for HASE, HACN and other entities under HASE to ensure regulatory requirements are met with
  • Act as the SME/champion for climate risk for HASE Risk
  • Work closely with HASE ESG team and the Regional Climate Risk Programme Manager to ensure that regional risk scope of work for Climate Risk is appropriately defined and delivered against the milestones set by HASE ESG Steering Committee are met with
  • Act as the single point of contact across business lines, and sub-functions in scope across the programme
  • Educate business lines and Risk stakeholders on Climate Risk and champion the transformation
  • Identify gaps in delivery plans and escalate for appropriate inclusion in programme scope
  • Act as the day-to-day lead for HASE relating to Climate Risk delivery, supporting the Regional/Global Team/Lead for the workstream, other appropriate stakeholders
  • Establish and run appropriate programme governance within HASE and facilitate key programme decisions working across all Risk sub-functions in scope - Wholesale, Retail, Operational, Resilience, Model and Market risk
  • Promote Risk priorities and deliverables in alignment with overall Risk 2025 and Climate Risk programme objectives
  • Drive appropriate engagement across Risk for the programme and promote collaboration with other Functions and Global Businesses
  • Ensure Risk impacts from the Climate Risk workstream are identified and managed appropriately
  • Manage risks and issues, escalating regionally and globally as appropriate
  • Ensure appropriate communication relating to programme implementation across Risk
  • Engage with different stakeholders for communication, briefing, and supporting and helping to drive implementations.
This position will have an opportunity to drive the implementation of one of the most complex and high profile projects in Risk by managing stakeholders and ensuring a smooth delivery of the project into HASE Risk.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in climate risk management e.g. credit risk, resilience risk.
  • Proven experience of leading change programmes in a Risk or Finance context
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to influence change in a cross-functional environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of operating confidently at Executive level
  • Proven experience of discussing complex analytical subjects with non-technical internal and external counterparts
  • Strong leadership, be able to communicate and influence a wide range of stakeholders, with capacity to interpret complex business/ risk requirements, translate the technical details into business context, and vice versa
  • Excellent understanding of the project lifecycle, best practice techniques on project delivery and most importantly, adhering to the Business Transformation Framework (BTF)
  • Understanding of how the Risk function operates and the ability to speak confidently on behalf of Risk
  • Understanding of how risk models impact the financial position of HASE and the controls, governance and oversight required to achieve this
  • Advanced understanding of reporting requirements, data lineage, architecture within the bank will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of the external environment in relation to Climate Risk - regulatory, competition, economics, etc will be advantageous
  • Excellent people management, planning and organization skills
  • A highly motivated and pro-active self-starter
  • Ability to work with a diverse and geographically dispersed project teams
  • Holder of Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) / Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) / Projects in Controlled Environments (Prince 2) / Six Sigma qualification has an advantage
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes
