The Senior Technical Product Manager - Platform role is a hands-on business-to-technology focused role and is an integral part of the Charles River software platform. The candidate will have excellent communication skills, have a hands-on approach, work side-by-side with Platform Product Management team and can collaborate with both business and technical leadership. Working with the engineering team in the agile role of product owner, the Technical Product Manager will create and manage the product roadmap and bring new features and capabilities to market. Additionally, the Technical Product Manager will develop internal and external relationships that will help drive detailed requirements, prioritization decisions and successful adoption of platform capabilities.

Charles River continues to grow and is expanding our front-office and middle-office investment management solutions. This Product Management role is a senior-level role for Charles River's technology platform. This hands-on role will partner with development managers and architects to develop and execute the technology product roadmap. The team you will be joining is part of the Charles River Investment Management Systems (CRIMS), a market leader in providing a comprehensive end-to-end investment management platform covering front, middle and back office. The Charles River IMS platform offers portfolio management, compliance, order and execution management, post-trade processing, data provisioning and management, performance measurement, as well as other key capabilities important to the investment lifecycle. The Platform team plays a crucial role in enabling development teams to build using consistent technologies and underlying infrastructure, support and operations teams to operate the application environments at the expected service levels and the transition to cloud native approaches. This role, being part of the Platform Product Management team, is crucial to our mission.
Responsibilities:
  • Drive non-functional requirements including scalability, reliability, serviceability, interoperability, usability, etc.
  • Lead client requirements gathering and market research
  • Coordinate client advisory meetings and development partnerships
  • Collaborate with other product managers and development leadership as well as the executive team to prioritize product initiatives
  • Develop the technology product roadmap which supports the business strategy
  • Communicate the technology product roadmap to internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage product management staff for the technology platform teams
  • As the Product Owner, drive the Agile process and create a culture of continuous improvement of processes and methodologies
  • Manage key initiatives to ensure achievement of critical milestones and results
  • Provide expert guidance and critical analysis of proposed changes during design reviews and product demos with an eye towards simplicity of design and function
  • Keep abreast of existing and emerging technologies impactful to our business
  • Provide occasional sales support for prospective clients
  • Act as an escalation point for client services
  • Speak at public events and author industry articles as appropriate

Requirements:
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or Math; Masters preferred
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Technical product management experience preferred
  • Experience building and delivering SaaS solutions
  • A bias toward architecture evolution that continually adds business value
  • Knowledge of the investment industry (technology, financial instruments, workflows, etc.) preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to collect, absorb, and analyze information quickly and independently
  • Ability to develop recommendations, form judgments and make decisions based on existing available data
  • Executive communication (verbal and written) skills and an ability to communicate complex technical information in simpler terms
Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of individuals at all levels of the organization
Highly motivated, with the ability to take initiative, set priorities and perform tasks with minimal guidance
Proven ability to develop and manage cross functional processes and project timelines
Excellent follow-through, attention to detail and time management skills

Salary Range:
$135,000 - $210,000 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
