Our Architecture & Engineering team defines enterprise technology architecture and engineering principles and best practices. We develop next-generation engineering solutions focused on Resiliency and Innovation. We engineer and integrate the critical systems and platforms used across the bank and with external clients.

The Role

As a Senior Database Security Engineer, you will drive the detailed design and implementation of the bank's global database security activity monitoring infrastructure. In addition, you will represent the Database Engineering team in responding to internal and external audits .

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy resilient Guardium Database Activity Monitoring infrastructure in support of all of the bank's databases. Key platforms include Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Sybase and DB2.
  • Mentor and oversee operations staff to ensure a healthy 24/7 activity monitoring infrastructure is in place.
  • Lead and support activities on Guardium such as onboarding new database platforms, agent/server software upgrades, troubleshooting, performance tuning and general automation.
  • Represent Database Engineering in working with the bank's information security, risk, and internal and external audit teams.
  • Define and document database security policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Ownership and maintenance of all policies and standards pertaining to Guardium database activity monitoring.
  • Collaborate closely with the Operations team and help build their capabilities over time

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred10-12 years of related experience required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
  • Strong engineering and operational experience with IBM Guardium Database Activity Monitoring in a large enterprise
  • Strong general systems engineering knowledge on topics such as Windows and Linux operating systems, file systems and networking.
  • Information security expertise, particularly as it relates to database security and best practices.
  • Experience managing IT audits and working effectively with internal and external auditors.
  • Experience in automation tools and Apis (Guard_API, Ansible, Python, shell scripts)
  • Experience with Splunk queries and dashboards
  • Prior experience / foundational knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL)
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred:
  • IBM Guardium certifications
  • Experience in the banking industry and familiarity with financial regulations

Ensures these needs are taken into account when developing infrastructure.Acts as escalation point for major incidents.Leads strategy to increase automation across the organization.Contributes to the achievement of multiple teams' objectives
