SOX Compliance & Controls is a global team of professionals which assesses critical financial, regulatory, and technology processes/areas supporting all lines of businesses and functions around the world. Department Overview:
Basel Independent Verification (BIV) is responsible for leading verifications of Basel (Capital) and BCBS 239 regulations. BIV independently assesses the internal control framework, regulatory compliance, and data integrity to ensure compliance with the Basel rules and BCBS 239 principles. BIV is a part of the SOX Compliance and Controls team.

Department Overview:
Basel Independent Verification (BIV) is responsible for leading verifications of Basel (Capital) and BCBS 239 regulations. BIV independently assesses the internal control framework, regulatory compliance, and data integrity to ensure compliance with the Basel rules and BCBS 239 principles. BIV is a part of the SOX Compliance and Controls team.
Essential functions include:
- Lead reviews of varied complexity and regulatory risk exposure related to Basel and BCBS 239
- Conduct testing of controls, compliance, and data integrity using innovate tools and testing techniques
- Identify issues and communicate/consult with various levels of management to ensure corrective actions address root causes
- Lead the annual Basel/BCBS 239 effectiveness review that is communicated to the Risk Committee of the Board
- Stay abreast of current developments and regulatory pronouncements related to Basel and BCBS 239
- Build and maintain key working relationship with professionals including but not limited to Finance, Risk and Compliance, Enterprise Data Management, and Internal Audit
- Provide guidance on internal controls and regulatory compliance to all levels of management.
- Provides technical advice/guidance to less experienced Control & Compliance roles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- 7-10 years of total work experience preferred
- Experience in public accounting, regulatory testing, SOX testing, Internal Audit, or Regulatory Reporting is required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is preferred.
- Understanding of the Capital Rules, Basel reporting requirements, BCBS 239 principles, and/or regulatory reporting rules and practices is a plus
- Experience in the Financial Services Industry is a plus
- Experience with data and analytics tools such as Power Bi and Alteryx are a plus
- Good time management skills, passion for results and personal accountability
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills
