The Role Responsibilities
Job Scope

SABRE (Standard Chartered Analytics Booking and Risk Engine) is the bank's strategic platform for Financial Markets Risk and Valuations. It is entirely developed in house at SCB. It is also the central data repository for all Financial Markets transactions providing information for regulatory and non-regulatory reporting purposes.
The current investments into the platform sponsor the following objectives:
  • Complete the adoption of SABRE generated risks and valuation for all official purposes across Market Risk, Finance and Operations.
  • Meet regulatory objectives such as the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB), the transition from IBOR to Risk Free Rates and multiple regulatory transaction reporting changes (SFTR, SEC, CFTC and EMIR re-writes).
  • Build the core trade Booking and Life-cycling functionality as part of the FM re-platforming initiative, aiming at migrating all Transaction Processing onto our strategic in-house platform, with SABRE at its core.
  • The main purpose of this Business Analyst role is to support SABRE Risk and Finance Adoption by establishing Controls, processes, remediations and enhancements to support Accuracy, Completeness and Timeliness of Risk generation and Risk Reporting infrastructure. The role sits in CIBITO (Corporate and Institutional Banking, Information Technology, and Operations) Risk group and provides close interaction with the Risk Managers, Product and Valuation Control, ITO and Quant teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and document business requirements, write user stories. Review and agree prioritization of the book of work with key business stakeholders.
  • Participate in sprint planning with the developers.
  • Identify dependencies and blockers, actively engage with other teams in SABRE, in ITO and beyond to ensure a working solution - not a simple technical capability - is delivered to users.
  • Review, test, document the deliveries.
  • Troubleshoot issues in Risk, P&L (trade replication, market data, analytics, accuracy, timeliness, completeness etc.).
  • Work actively and creatively with automation testers to ensure all new functionalities are tested and added in test pack with optimal coverage and performance.
  • Demo the deliveries to stakeholders, gather feedback, sign offs and continuously improve the application in an iterative, Agile approach.
  • Build a strong and effective relationship with the business. Chair project meetings with key risk managers to report on progress and review issues.
  • Maintain and spread knowledge of the solutions being developed with the business analysts and the broader team.
Our Ideal Candidate
General Skills

  • 5 years experience working with data analysis, or a front to back implementation, preferably vendor plus in-house applications.
  • Ability to accurately translate and document business needs into functional requirements and produce high quality documentation.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and spoken).
  • Ability to work proactively, independently and displays strong initiative taking attitude.
  • Pragmatic team player with good attention to detail.
  • Familiar with Agile development practices and SQL.
Technical Knowledge
  • Good understanding of key technology concepts, Query languages like SQL and Spark SQL, basics in logical/physical data models, python programming, scripting, excel and architecture is a plus.
