The Operations team is part of a broader Middle Office, which has responsibilities across both pre- and post-trade. The team perform internal controls supporting a macro product set. It links the Trader Assistants to the third-party fund administrator, also providing oversight the external-facing, day-to-day operational activity. In addition, the team perform the collateral operations functions for the fund (and are already in scope for the Uncleared Margin Rules).

The team is also involved in the implementation of new products/business areas within the firm and works closely alongside multiple internal stakeholders to implement change effectively.

Successful candidates will also show a keen interest in understanding the wider control environment that underpins the firm's day-to-day functioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, prioritisation, build and perform daily controls through a suite of reconciliations (position, trade, cash) across Equities, FI, Rates, Credit and Commodities asset classes, with a focus on Credit
  • Providing extensive core operational input to the continued build-out of infrastructure across the business, working with both technology and external vendors to build out efficient and scalable processes across both new and existing product verticals
  • Management of daily OTC/Exchange margin calls across the firm
  • Review of breaks in electronic affirmation platforms
  • Ensure oversight and appropriate escalation responses are in place for all post-trade processes performed by the third-party administrator
  • Lifecycle processing support (e.g. Succession Events, Corporate Actions, Credit Events), including managing all rights under events trading strategies.


Experience required:
  • A demonstrated drive for excellence, to include minimum 2i in a numerate subject from a Russell Group university or international equivalent
  • Relevant Middle Office/Operations experience at either a Tier 1 investment bank or comparable Buy-side firm
  • Excellent theoretical knowledge of OTC derivatives in at least one major asset class
  • Exceptional post-trade knowledge across all asset classes, and awareness of best practice in the industry
  • Strong excel skills (VBA/Pivots/working with complex data sets)
  • An ability to deliver in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • A wide interest in financial news and products outside of the scope of your role
  • Some awareness of regulatory initiatives past and present (EMIR, UMR, IBOR Reform, CSDR etc.) and the operational steps needed to tackle them.
