Job Summary:

Job Duties:
Carbon trading operations is a new business line that operates within HKEX's Carbon and ESG department. As part of the role, the manager would help to formulate the optimal business operation model; manage the business and operations of carbon products, collaborate closely with project and product teams in implementation of new products/initiatives, and support the growth of new business volume.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead operation teams to manage and support core carbon operations within HKEX Carbon and ESG department, including design and setup core operations team to cope with arising business strategies and determine the roadmap to support.
• Manage carbon operations team, provide guidance on end-to-end processes including client onboarding, daily trading processing, settlements, reconciliation, operations controls and client services support in carbon market.
• Liaise with services providers, such platform vendor, carbon registries, carbon issuers, brokers, and market participants on any operational issues and new/amend policies.
• Develop strong working relationships with external and internal counterparties to understand the business drivers and be proactive in suggesting area of focus and potential improvements.
• Collaborate with Product team in developing and designing the optimal business operations model and support the business needs.
• Lead and drive market insight and analysis the carbon market trend leveraging day-to-day operational insight and provide recommendation on business discussion.
• Participates in Carbon related industry group, operations forums and client meetings.

Job Requirements:

• At least 10+ years of experience within Operations/Risk, of which at least 6 years at management/supervisory level in well-established financial organizations.
• Understanding of financial market innovation trends, product development and application of new technologies in the financial industry.
• A proven track record of taking projects from inception, endorsement, design, development, testing and launch.
• Knowledge of technology and vendor platform used in financial business, ESG related knowledge is an advantage.
• Possess an inquisitive mind that can focus on the details but also encompass the big picture.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and able to interact effectively with peers and senior management.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage.
