Role Description

Join us and play a critical role in shaping the future of FinTech. As Chief of Staff, you will work side by side and roll up your sleeves with the leader of the world's most successful investment technology organization and the COO Team that makes it happen. The COO team works closely with senior leaders to define our technology, business and talent strategy as well as sharpening execution, accountability and data-driven decision making. You will establish objectives, focus areas, action plans and build the bridge between current and future state. You will frame and analyze complex problems, develop recommendations and partner across the firm to drive implementation. This position will give you immense exposure and will afford the chance to learn about the financial industry and the exciting intersection of investing and technology.

Key responsibilities:

Chief of Staff to the Global Head of the Aladdin Product Group
  • Provide day-to-day support to the Global Head of the Aladdin Product Group including meeting preparation and oversight of agendas, presentations, and materials (ExCo, GEC, Board, Clients etc)
  • Coordinate and participate in external engagements with clients and other stakeholders as well as internal engagements across the firm; evaluate and prioritize engagement requests against strategic priorities
  • Plan strategic leadership engagement across the global organization including office visits and travel
  • Serve as a liaison between APG and key 1Aladdin and firm partners, manage related deliverables and develop new content as needed
  • Execute high priority projects and initiatives for the Head of the Aladdin Product Group
  • Work closely to deliver in lock step with the APG COO Team


Tech Ecosystem & Learning
  • Manage internal communications for the internal BlackRock Tech Community
    • Provide guidance and partnership for communicating large scale APG & tech initiatives ; manage relationship development internally and externally and bring sharp focus to APG/technology within BlackRock
  • Develop and execute a strategy to promote learning opportunities across the BlackRock developer community and refine how the BlackRock Tech Academy and tech cultural activities are driving our tech talent strategy
  • Analyse learning content effectiveness and engagement data to provide insights and management reporting
  • Elevate BlackRock's tech culture through internal and external activities including Hackathons and external tech conferences.
  • Write and post Tech and Engineering Social Media and Content
  • Act as a key partner with HR, senior APG leadership, and Tech Fellows to facilitate tech learning engagement and strengthen the developer community
  • Partner closely with other critical APG COO functions such as Business Management, Technology Risk, Strategic Initiatives Office, business tech group where appropriate to drive desired outcomes


COO Team Strategy & Governance Team Member
  • Work across the leadership team with dedicated focus on highly strategic teams / areas as appropriate
    • Team strategy, priorities and objectives
    • Operating model and engagement (forums, offsites, culture)
    • Team-specific onboarding & recruiting (above and beyond standard APG process)
    • Connectivity to broader APG forums & governance
    • Ad hoc strategic projects
  • Influence our operating model and culture, with a focus on metrics, data and accountability
  • Act as a key partner with HR and senior APG leadership to facilitate organizational enhancements to drive success across the business
  • Partner closely with other critical APG COO functions such as Business Management, Technology Risk, Strategic Initiatives Office, and Technology Ecosystem Engagement where appropriate to drive desired outcomes

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage diverse set of stakeholders, build long-term relationships, and create a collaborative and approachable environment, especially when working across departments or time sensitivity
  • Intellectual Curiosity: Strong grasp of content, business models, interest in technology, markets, and geopolitical trends; ability to synthesize large amounts of information, form and test hypotheses and identify opportunities
  • Problem-solving: Structured critical thinker with superior problem-solving abilities who can organize people under pressure and pull in key decision makers to prioritize issues and respond to clients and senior management
  • Project Management: Efficiently manage project processes, navigate trade-offs, and effectively manage own and others' time
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Business Writing Skills: Ability to quickly produce management-level quality presentations, business memos and can synthesize key information using data and analytics
  • Demonstrates integrity and the highest standards, with a commitment to inclusion and diversity
  • 5+ years of experience in asset management, financial services or technology


For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $109,250 - $130,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock's current hybrid work model is designed to enable in-person connections and collaboration that is core to our culture, while supporting increased flexibility for all employees. In line with local health guidance and regulations, employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
