SQL Database Administrator

Candidate Background

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Instances, Database administration and SQL Server components
• Strong understanding and/or working experience of Microsoft SQL Server installation, upgrade, database setup and implementation of SQL Server technologies
• Experience in SQL Server Instance upgrade from SQL Server lower version to latest version and Database migration from one SQL Server to another
• Strong knowledge in utilizing SQL Server monitoring and troubleshooting\performance tools
• Experience in addressing SQL database alerts/issues, capacity constraints and performance related items
• Demonstrated ability in problem solving, identify tuning opportunities, implement improvement and advise Production support\developer teams on root cause/analysis, SQL tuning and permanent solution
• Experience in MS Dos/Powershell scripting and able to write Transact SQL scripting will be plus.

As part of this role, you will get to work on, responsible and gain exposure to the following:

• Microsoft SQL Server and Databases, Components
• Microsoft SQL Servers using Physical and Virtual Machines hosted on Microsoft Windows Servers
• Microsoft SQL Server technologies such as SQL Alwayson(AG), Database Mirroring, Transaction Log Shipping,SQL Server Replication and Windows Standalone\Clustering using Storage-level replication
• Install, configure, upgrades, applying patches to Microsoft SQL Server Instances using Database Automation Tools
• Troubleshooting, Database performance and tuning, Availability monitoring
• Creation, maintenance, monitoring and implementation of SQL Server Databases routines
• Implement Microsoft SQL Server Database features such as Compression, Encryption, Link Servers, Management Data Warehouse(MDW) and Partitioning
• Exposure to Logical and Physical Database design and implementation
• Triage database outage, troubleshooting and performance tuning issues.
• Automation of Database routines such as writing and maintaining scripts
• Administration activities for SQL Server and Database level security
• Worked on Database backup, restore and SQL job scheduling using SQL Agent, Autosys jobs and Veritas NetBackup software
