Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Senior Sustainability Manager by ensuring that project costs remain within budget
  • Support the Senior Sustainability Manager as project manager by collaborating with relevant colleagues in business units (including BEA China and overseas branches), investment, and risk management to implement BEA's net zero roadmap for financed emissions and monitor performance
  • Work closely with members of the Data Science & Governance Department and related colleagues on development of a data dictionary, data lineage and identification of data gaps, third party data sourcing, etc.
  • Help ensure colleagues are kept up to date on the progress made on BEA's net zero roadmap for financed emissions through staff training events, ESG Work Group meetings, etc.
  • Support the execution of BEA's net zero roadmap for business activities by measuring the Bank Group's financed emissions, driving lending and investment portfolio sectorial baselining, and providing input into recommendations for target setting
  • Monitor financed emissions, which may support various initiatives including, for example, ESG goal achievement, BEA's ESG risk appetite statement, and clients' sustainability performance targets.
  • Monitor net zero as well as green and sustainable finance developments in Hong Kong and in other markets we serve to ensure BEA's efforts remain aligned with current practices and anticipate developments on the horizon
  • Support the development of presentations for the meetings and activities of the ESG Work Group and ESG Steering Committee as needed
  • Build relationships with external parties including ESG consultants, sustainability practitioners, etc., who may provide insight or advice that would be beneficial to the Bank in its net zero journey


Requirements:
  • Degree holder in computer/data sciences, quantitative analysis and statistics, green and sustainable finance ("GSF"), or related discipline;
  • Solid working experience in data management or research
  • a minimum of five years' working experience in a sizable organisation;
  • previous working experience in a financial institution, consultancy, or research firm preferred;
  • exposure to ESG performance management, GSF, and/or credit systems preferred;
  • strong analytical, interpersonal, and communications skills;
  • solid project and time management skills with good attention to detail and able to work under pressure;
  • strong PC skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and
  • good spoken and written English and Chinese including Cantonese and Putonghua.
