Bloomberg is the global leader in financial data and analytics. Financial derivatives instruments across several assets (foreign exchange, fixed income, equity, index, commodity, credit, etc) trade millions of times a day both as listed products on exchanges and as bespoke over-the-counter products in a multi-trillion dollar market throughout the world. The Derivatives Engineering team brings transparency to the complex world of derivatives. We enable our clients to generate trade ideas, structure deals, connect to electronic trading platforms, capture market movements, and assess and hedge portfolio risk for derivatives instruments.

This team is right at the intersection of finance and technology. We work directly with product managers, financial engineers, and quantitative analysts to understand client and market needs. We use cutting edge big data technologies, distributed computing, functional programming and machine learning to build software solutions that help us implement complex financial and quantitative models to facilitate derivatives pricing and analytics in real-time.

What's in it for you?
As a member of the Derivatives Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of open source technologies including Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Apache Cassandra, Redis, Blockchain and more, to design and implement full-stack software solutions that serve billions of calculations a day. You'll gain hands-on experience in writing data analytics, distributed algorithms, and performance optimized code, all while gaining an advanced knowledge of the derivatives domain. If the idea of building sophisticated software solutions for financial data and analytics excites you, we would love to hear from you!

You'll need to have:
  • 4+ years working with an object-oriented programming language (C/C++, Python, Java, etc.)
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experience
  • An honest approach to problem-solving, and ability to collaborate with peers, stakeholders and management
  • An understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms

We'd love to see:
  • Experience with other programming languages such as Javascript, Scala, and OCaml
  • Prior contributions to system design and architecture and scaling fault-tolerant, distributed systems
  • An interest in financial markets or a background in data analytics or financial engineering
  • Experience with high volume, high availability distributed systems
