Corporate Development Analyst

Job Description Summary

The Analyst will support Corporate Development in the assessment of inorganic opportunities and development of strategic positioning to drive growth of existing business lines, expand into new markets, and achieve additional operational efficiencies. The individual will also assist in the evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and execution of all mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, divestitures and complex commercial arrangements that advance CME Group's business interests. The Analyst will be tasked with determining what information is needed to address a specific matter, where to retrieve this information and how to accurately and thoughtfully present this information so that management can make an informed decision. Because the assessment of opportunities often requires an enterprise view, the position will require the individual to communicate and work with divisions across the organization including Business Line Management, CME Ventures, Legal, Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, etc. The position will also interact with external advisors as needed.

Principal Accountabilities
Support Corporate Development and other key internal stakeholders to maximize the value of CME Group via inorganic initiatives:
  • Assist in the analysis of potential external opportunities (mergers, acquisition, joint ventures, commercial partnerships, etc.) through data gathering and financial modeling. Analysis could include Discounted Cash Flows, Trading Multiples, and Comparable Transactions modeling.
  • Collect data and provide analytical reports to improve our business portfolio. Data gathering will require reviews and comprehension of company or industry research reports, regulatory filings, and financial statements.
  • Apply understanding of key products and business functions to create and maintain various routine business reports, presentations, and financial analysis
  • Collaborate with senior members of Corporate Development and other departments to help develop business cases required in support of transactions and investment recommendations
Qualifications And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with relevant coursework in Finance, Accounting, and/or Economics required
  • One to two years of relevant experience (Valuation Consulting, Investment Banking, Corporate Development) within Financial Services preferred
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills required
  • Prior experience in valuation modeling, financial analysis, and business case development preferred
  • Self-starter with the ability to work/collaborate effectively within a team
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time

The salary range for this role is $70,900-$118,100. Actual salary offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal employees (where relevant).
