WE ARE LOOKING FOR .....

The Finance Consultancy, Operations & Controls Team is a new function that integrates the existing Group Finance Controls and Governance team, the previous Group Office Project Halley Programme Team and the Integrated Finance Solutions team.

The integrated function encompasses the core capabilities of Process, Systems, Controls and related projects and with two focuses of delivery (Group and BU) via the four pillars: (1) Process & Operations, (2) Integrated Finance Solutions(3Controls & Governance and (4) Finance Consultancy.

The team is leading and running many Group-led projects to deliver on the Ascend 200 Strategy, including TDA, ESG, CAP, BSR, Unit Linked Operating Model Redesign, Finance Consultancy set-up, as well as operating and maintaining our well established ICFR Programme for the Group.

Programme Management oversight and support is required across all these strategic projects to ensure:
  • Successful project delivery, according to agreed timeline and budget.
  • Robust reporting to Group supervisory forums.
  • Project governance commitments (steering committees etc.) are observed and deadlines met.
  • Quality, smooth consistent experience provided to BUs, with clear, concise, timely and relevant communications to respective groups.
  • Sufficient PM / PMO resources are deployed to individual projects to support on-the-ground delivery which is aligned to the Group project management governance and framework.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management
  • Manage the day to day running of the Programme Management team.
  • Responsibility for all aspects of assigned programme management activities including planning, risk and issue management, governance and reporting and resource management.
  • Set and implement consistent project governance framework across projects, including governance structure, reporting guidelines and principles etc.
  • Set and implement BU Engagement Strategy and Communications Protocol.
  • Work closely with PM / PMO to ensure effective management and governance of the wider Programme under Group Finance Consultancy, Operations and Controls, according to established guidances and principles.
  • Provide guidance and support to the PM / PMO regarding project management related activities, including planning, risk and issue identification and management, reporting to governance bodies etc.
  • Provide direct Project Management support to specific initiatives on an as-needed basis, and for those initiatives, lead the end-to-end project planning, execution, risk and issue management, stakeholder management and governance reporting. For example:
  • Finance TDA: Lead and manage a team to deliver the Smart Automation Workstream as part of the wider Group Finance TDA Programme, using a process-based approach to identify and assess (1) the top manual processes and pain points for BUs, (2) the respective root causes, and (3) the potential opportunities / initiatives to be launched under the Finance TDA Programme to close the gaps.

Programme Management
  • Support the development and management of overall team resource plans, and support PMs to mobilise and onboard resources as required to ensure sufficient on-the-ground support.
  • Manage the project governance and cadence including meetings, reporting and deliverable sign off.
  • Support governance reporting to all relevant bodies and stakeholders, including ExCo, Board, NGF, townhall, conferences, and other programme and project forums, on both a formal and ad-hoc basis.
  • Support the planning, storyboarding and crafting of key messages and materials to ensure communications and updates are tailored as appropriate to the specific GO and BU level and audience.
  • Document and track the status of programme deliverables, ensuring they are on time and have gone through the necessary governance, review and approval.
  • Ensure project governance documentation is managed and maintained by respective PMs.

Change & People Management
  • Manage and co-ordinate the people engagement activities, including planning regular team building activities and preparing staff engagement communications.
  • Support the development of an employee engagement plan to promote and improve staff engagement and performance as compared to prior year.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Degree holder with relevant professional qualifications.
  • Minimum 8+ years working experience in similar roles and functions within the insurance and financial services industry.
  • Proven experience to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders within business including, Head of Finance Consultancy, Operations and Controls, Regional CFO and other function heads.
  • Daily interaction with Project Managers and other team members to deliver project management and project needs.
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex programme environment and support multi-stakeholder information needs, requiring:
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Good problem solving and analytical skills.
  3. Strong stakeholder management skills and experience managing diverse stakeholder expectations.
  • Previous experience in managing and delivering large projects (preferably multi country), including project planning, risk and issue management, resource management and stakeholder communications
  • Ability to manage teams, including internal and external project team members.
