Job Purpose Statement

Where you'll fit in & what our team goals are....

A Senior Thematic Investment Analyst with a data focus, is sought to join our Responsible Investment team, part of our Global Research department, to play a key role in the development and coordination of thematic investment research.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues, sector analysts and portfolio managers in developing and coordinating thematic research, identifying actionable investment opportunities and engaging with companies/issuers. They will work closely with senior Portfolio Managers managing thematic and outcome/impact strategies (e.g. sustainable equity, social bond) and play a role in representing the firm with clients and externally.

Role Responsibilities

How you'll spend your time....
  • Conduct thematic and stock/issuer research to identify and analyse trends, drivers of change, growth opportunities, quality of standards of operating practice and the competitive landscape for and of businesses, with a particular lens around social and sustainability themes and material ESG exposures.
  • Collaborate with equity and credit analyst around the world to identify and analyse practical investment opportunities, integrating thematic and responsible investment insights within fundamental research
  • Present thematic research insights to investment teams and global thematic meetings
  • Recommend useful investment ideas based on top-down thematic and bottom-up fundamental analysis, through a responsible investment lens.
  • Work effectively with other members of the responsible investment and other research teams to improve the efficiency of both the firm-wide research and stewardship (engagement) efforts.
  • Contribute to the team's work in data science and enhanced analytics.
  • Contribute to the firms thought leadership and client engagement and engagement in industry forums and responsible investment initiatives, as well as client relations.


Key Capabilities

To be successful in this role you will have....
  • The successful candidate should have proven analytical capability relevant to thematic and fundamental investment analysis.
  • Significant experience of thematic, investment or development finance research and analysis
  • Prior experience of working in and with investors (fund managers, private equity, real asset, development finance etc)
  • An understanding of sustainability trends and curiosity about responsible investment
  • Able to think ambitiously and creatively
  • Able to communicate investment ideas clearly
  • Familiarity with the relevant compliance and regulatory practice
  • A focus on output and achievement
  • Great teammate, able to work in a multi-disciplinary, global environment


Desired Capabilities

If you also had this, it would be great....
  • Previous experience in thematic investment analysis or development finance
  • Previous asset management or investment analyst background
  • CFA and/or Accounting qualification or equivalent
  • Ability to mentor and develop other analysts
