Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock Capital Markets (BCM) is a single center of excellence across public and private market sourcing for the firm and co-investment and financing for our alternatives business. It is a holistic, comprehensive investment platform that provides solutions across the capital stack. BCM helps to deploy public and private capital in active portfolios within BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI) and Portfolio Management Group (PMG).

BAI offers access to a spectrum of alternative investments including hedge funds, private equity, private credit, real estate and infrastructure.

PMG is a single organization with seven portfolio management businesses: Fundamental Fixed Income, Municipals and FIG Fixed Income, Index Fixed Income and LDI, Fundamental Equities, Systematic Investments, Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions and Global Lending, Liquidity and Private Investors.

Role Overview:

BlackRock is seeking an Associate for its Americas Emerging Markets Team which is a part of the Americas High Grade business, within BlackRock Capital Markets, based in New York. The candidate will be an instrumental member of the team that is responsible for BlackRock's primary market presence in the Latin America ("Latam") corporate bond and sovereign market, with additional responsibility for managing SSA and responsibility for backing up the US Investment Grade business. This role will be visible and have regular contact with portfolio managers, credit analysts, traders, illiquid sourcing teams, and sell-side syndicate and investment banking counterparts. The key mandate of the group is to identify and source Emerging Market credit new issue investment opportunities, with a complementary focus on driving alpha through reverse inquiry, anchor order, and customized financing transactions.

Responsibilities:
  • Instrumental member of the team that is responsible for BlackRock's primary market presence, specializing in the Emerging Markets corporate bond market, with additional responsibility for managing SSA and responsibility for backing up the team in the US Investment Grade markets
  • Partner with BlackRock's credit portfolio managers and other investment professionals to identify and source Latam credit and sovereign new issue investment opportunities. Drive investment activity with a focus on reverse inquiry, anchor order and customized financing transactions
  • Perform/leverage fundamental and technical company analysis to drive investment idea generation
  • Partner with Emerging Market and Investment Grade investment teams by contributing insights regarding primary market and corporate finance trends, and assist teams in evaluating unique investment opportunities with a strong focus on alpha generation
  • Learn and manage a variety of compliance and business reporting systems, processes and procedures
  • Oversee Weekly / Quarterly / Annual reporting metrics
  • Focus on analyzing proprietary data in order to develop signals, models and predictors for investment purposes. Robust understanding of market trends, including technology evolution and market structure


Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance, credit fundamentals and bond trading/relative value dynamics
  • 2-4 years of experience in fixed income / Emerging Market / Investment Grade credit markets, sales and trading; preferably in a capital markets, trading, or syndicate role is preferable
  • Well-developed relationship management and partnering abilities, strong communication and presentation skills and strong teamwork and leadership capabilities
  • Data science competency with a strong interest to develop skillset further with in-house tools and training, encouraged


For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $118,750 - $140,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
