PIMCO is seeking to hire an experienced Defined Contribution Solutions Strategist to further develop the retirement income solutions offering within PIMCO's $125B Defined Contribution business. This position is responsible for working in conjunction with PIMCO's Defined Contribution Solutions team to manage and enhance the current DC product suite as well as develop and position new solutions.

The position will report to PIMCO's Head of Retirement. The role can be based in either Newport Beach, CA or New York, NY and may require a moderate amount of travel.

Responsibilities:

The DC Solutions Strategist will:
  • Manage, enhance and further develop PIMCO's suite of defined contribution investment strategies with a particular focus on retirement income solutions.
  • Identify demand for new solutions/products or evolution and enhancements of existing ones; develop, position and support those solutions/products.
  • Work with plan sponsors and consultants to assess DC investment needs and recommend solutions. Deliver DC expertise and communicate PIMCO's perspectives on DC plan design while positioning PIMCO investment solutions appropriate for plan sponsors and participants.
  • Collaborate with other PIMCO investment professionals, including Client Relationship Managers and Portfolios Managers
  • Develop marketing, servicing and educational materials, including client presentations, white papers, and other thought leadership materials for publication
  • Participate in ad-hoc research projects related to the retirement markets
  • Serve as an internal resource for client servicing and marketing groups for retirement income and defined contribution-related questions and inquiries
  • Offer timely and forward-looking insights both internally and externally on investor demand, competitors and DC market trends.
Requirements:

This position requires an experienced, dynamic & collaborative professional. A successful candidate will:
  • 5+ years of experience in the institutional Defined Contribution space
  • Experience with management and/or development of investment solutions and products for the U.S. defined contribution market. A specific focus on retirement income strategies is preferred.
  • Have a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and retirement income solutions currently offered in the market.
  • Have outstanding knowledge of the institutional and advisor led DC landscape including investor requirements and preferences as well as intermediary distribution.
  • Have a commercial orientation and developed consultative sales skills and a history of successfully engaging with plan sponsors, advisors and consultants.
  • Deep knowledge of DC trends, plan design and mechanics (accumulation and decumulation), investment vehicles, capital markets, and economics.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with and earn the trust and credibility of fellow Product and Solutions Strategists, Account Managers, Portfolio Managers, and other PIMCO professionals
  • Provide thought leadership in identifying marketing opportunities and supporting PIMCO initiatives to develop and grow PIMCO's DC platform
  • Have solid quantitative skills, ability to work with large datasets and perform analytical work

Education:
  • Candidates with an advanced degree such as an MBA or an undergraduate degree with a professional designation, such as a CFA, and/or substantial industry experience will be considered for this role. Additionally, standard industry licenses (Series 3, 7 and 63) will be required.
PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.
