Role Overview

The Operational Risk Officer is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

Responsibilities
  • Operational Risk Events (such as losses): responsible for the capture and reporting of events to meet policy requirements for completeness, quality, accuracy, and timeliness, and assist and/or perform quarterly attestations
  • Operational Risk Events: drive discussions on event ownership to timely conclusion across O&T and Business groups, and escalate items requiring attention
  • Operational Risk Events: prepare detailed Lessons Learned reports, and coordinate inputs and responses to 2nd line challenge to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness
  • System Outages: perform analysis and thematic reviews to determine trends and drivers for outages as they relate back to the control framework, and lead and/or participate in working sessions to formulate recommendations and track actions to address top themes
  • Control Assessments: responsible for coordinating control assessments as assigned for events
  • Proactively identify new risk indicators and analyze large data sets to detect key themes and risks to support R&C activities and drive key initiatives
  • Facilitate forums to share and apply lessons learned across a product, business, segment, country, or region.
  • Evaluate control issues and ensure adequacy of Event Root Cause Analysis and corrective action plans
  • Work with Tech Heads and first, second, and third line functions in the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of risk remediation programs and processes and to establish and/or improve engagement and interaction models
  • Assist in maintaining procedures and guidelines using standard templates
  • Develop deep understanding of of Citi's Operational Risk Management (ORM) policies and framework
  • Ensure ICG Technology R&C teams deliver on all requirements under the ORM Operational Risk Events policy and standards
  • Provide guidance to first line partners on ORM requirements
  • Represent ICG Technology R&C at senior partner and governance forums
  • Escalate operational risk events as appropriate
  • Develop strong relationships with in-business first and second line stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Relevant professional experience, including Risk Management framework

Education
  • Bachelor's/University degree preferred
