CONTROLLERS
We are a global team responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the firm's financial and regulatory information by complying with the rules and regulations governing financial markets worldwide. As well as managing both internal and external financial reporting, our expertise plays a key role in the firm's business planning decisions around allocation of scarce financial resources such as capital and balance sheet. We partner with the business in providing advice on accounting, valuation, capital, liquidity, reputational risk and other regulatory considerations when executing business with our clients. YOUR IMPACT
Would you like to utilize and build your accounting expertise as a Controller for the Investment and Lending segment of Goldman Sachs? We are looking for a team player with strong accounting knowledge and a passion in finance to support the Asset Management Division ("AMD"), which primarily focuses on the long term investment objectives of the firm.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
The Japan Investment Accounting team within Controllers mainly support accounting function for private investment management business in the region as well as the Japan assets rolling up to the global funds. It requires extensive liaison with internal teams including Asset Management Division, Legal, Tax, Compliance and Operations and external parties such as accounting vendors, trustee banks in Japan. Japan Investment Accounting team is expected to develop a good understanding of the funds, real estate business, the applicable accounting, regulations and industry practice in Japan. The function has become increasingly technical in content and offers a challenging and interesting role for dynamic, bright and ambitious individuals with a drive to succeed.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that financial reporting is of high quality and meets applicable accounting principles and regulations
- Accountability over JGAAP & USGAAP financial reporting and disclosures and audit support
- Manage various kinds of local regulatory reports under applicable local laws
- Perform control functions of financial reporting while working closely and managing relationships with AMD, Tax, Compliance, Legal, Corporate Treasury, Operations and external parties
- Conduct regular reviews for new, as well as existing, transactions for accounting treatment and control considerations across various types of investments
- Provide variance analysis and prepare management reporting packs on a monthly/quarterly basis
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong team player
- Native in Japanese and business level English
- Strong accounting knowledge and analytical skills
- Strong leadership skills, self-starter, inquisitive, enthusiastic with a strong analytical and detail oriented mind-set
- Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and work in a team environment
- Ability to handle competing deadlines
- Tertiary education or above
- Good real estate industry knowledge
- JCPA or USCPA qualification is preferred but not a pre-requisite
- Auditing experience from a Big4 firm is a plus
