The management of operational risk is a key business priority for Nomura and is vital to the successful delivery of the firm's strategy. The EMEA operational risk team has responsibility for the development of operational risk management for the region, including:
Developing the operational risk strategy and governance framework
Establishing a set of operational risk products and services to support the business areas' management of operational risk
Developing the tools and templates to allow the effective collection, review and use of operational risk information
Through a team of Relationship Partners and Senior Risk Managers, effectively working with Operational Risk Co-ordinators across the business to embed an operational risk culture throughout the organisation

Role description:
To support delivery of these priorities, the Operational Risk Manager role will involve:
- Supporting the EMEA Operational Risk Head in facing off to senior 1st line stakeholders (Front Office and/or Corporate as required)
- Taking ownership of delivery of key business reports
- Supporting the Senior Risk Manager in the performance of their responsibilities
- Developing a close working relationship with key business stakeholders and providing ongoing communication of key Operational Risk developments and requirements
- Providing support and challenge to key business stakeholders in their development and maintenance of Operational Risk products; including: RCSAs, KRIs, events
- Leading the collation, analysis and reporting of operational risk MI for monthly Aggregated Risk Profiles, which will be presented to business management
- Identifying key trends, issues and other insights requiring further investigation and following up with the business as appropriate.
Key objectives critical to success:
- Primary support for the relationships with the 1st line stakeholders (Front Office and/or Corporate as required)
- Coordinate production of monthly reporting as required
- Supporting and leading aspects of the operational risk framework development and implementation
- Providing independent expert advice and challenge to the business areas on operational risk issues
- Developing, disseminating communications and training the business to raise awareness of operational risk
- Solid project delivery skills to aid implementation of framework enhancements into production.
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
Candidates for the position should have:
- Experience in operational risk or related functions in financial services institutions
- An understanding of the role of Operational Risk in a Wholesale business
- Display commercial awareness and an understanding of key business priorities
- Have experience and understanding of the components of an operational risk management framework and their inter relationships
Desirable but non essential attributes:
- Possess investment banking and / or capital markets knowledge and experience
- Relevant investment and / or operational risk professional qualifications
