What the job involves
- Collaborate with the investment teams, client product services (CPS) team and IT to develop key initiatives
- Anticipate, identify, and assist in managing risks, and identifying opportunities, relating to new ESG investment strategies and activities
- Collaborate with the Credit ESG Working Group and the ESG Committee to develop the climate strategy
- Support implementation of ESG investment monitoring processes
- Engage with Investment colleagues to support pre-investment ESG due diligence
- Perform ESG monitoring of investments and evaluate key trends and risks to assist in setting strategy and investment processes
- Advise and support on ESG-related credit agreement provisions and maintain oversight of accepted sustainability and ESG-linked loan product
- Work closely with different investment teams across the firm - Credit, Private Equity to refine and improve ESG processes
- Engage with the wider community and stakeholders on sustainability (conferences, etc.) and develop a profile in the market
- Support the completion of external reporting including UN PRI and Task Force for Climate Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) to the highest standards
- Draft annual Responsible Investing client reports and take an active role in the quarterly ESG reporting
- Conduct annual training for the investment and client facing teams and develop training programmes relevant to ESG matters
- ESG industry experience in asset/fund management, preferably with a private equity or credit firm, a bank or an advisory role in a leading professional services firm
- Strong analytical (including use of Excel, Power BI), monitoring & reporting, and communication/presentation skills
- Experience with PRI reporting and responding to client requests
- Experience of integrating ESG into the full investment life cycle
- Experience engaging with senior Investment professionals and C-suite members of investee companies/corporates
- Understanding of the Credit and Fixed Income Asset class
- Broad knowledge of ESG integration and understanding of key ESG issues and how they are relevant for investors across different asset classes
- Experience or strong understanding of a broad range of financing transactions and the key provisions of debt documents and how these differ across different sustainability linked loan products
- Understanding of key risk factors in relation to ESG integration and ESG-related investment strategies, including greenwashing
