Position Summary

The individual will be a key member of the Corporate Development team to support the business teams in the evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and execution of all mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, divestitures, and complex commercial arrangements that advance CME Group's business interests through the growth of existing business lines, the expansion into new markets, and/or the achievement of additional operational efficiencies. The Manager will be tasked with developing and owning the financial model for these opportunities utilizing various methods including discounted cash flow, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, etc. The Manager will also be tasked with accurately and thoughtfully presenting this information so that management can make an informed decision. Because the assessment of opportunities often requires an enterprise view, the position will require the individual to communicate and work with divisions across the organization including Corporate Strategy, Business Development, Business Line Management, CME Ventures, Legal, Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, etc. The position will also interact with external advisors as needed.

Principal Accountabilities

Partner with key stakeholders to maximize the value of CME Group via inorganic initiatives:
  • Drive the development of comprehensive financial analysis to review and advance potential external opportunities (merger & acquisitions, strategic partnerships, minority equity stakes, commercial opportunities, etc.)
  • Analyze and provide recommendations on various initiatives that facilitate decision making among internal stakeholders by ensuring participation in cross-functional due-diligence efforts
  • Apply understanding of key products and business functions to create and maintain various routine business reports, presentations, and financial analysis
  • Provide a comprehensive review of term sheets or other legal documentation

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with relevant coursework in Finance, Accounting, and/or Economics required
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, or equivalent academic qualification preferred
  • Three to seven years of relevant experience (Valuation Consulting, Investment Banking, Corporate Development, Private Equity) required; relevant experience within the Financial Services industry a plus
  • Proven experience supporting commercial transactions such as licensing agreements, joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, and strategic alliances
  • Expert-level capabilities in valuation modeling, financial analysis, and business case development required
  • Strong Word and PowerPoint skills required
  • Ability to operate within cross-functional teams and forge deep relationships with senior executives and other stakeholders within CME Group
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of time
