About this role

BlackRock's Global Fundamental Fixed Income Strategy Team is looking for an Associate/ VP to support, develop and promote our commercial efforts across the Global Fundamental Fixed Income franchise. This range of funds comprises a diverse array of strategies, fixed income assets and portfolio management teams including both unconstrained and benchmark orientated funds within mutual fund and separate account structures. The team's clients are located around the world and we work in partnership with our sales colleagues in the Official Institutions Group, Institutional Client Business and iShares & Wealth (iSW) Sales groups. Having successfully built and grown a range of active mutual funds and tailored mandates with considerable commercial success, the team has also started to develop a comprehensive ESG range to complement and complete our offering.

The individual will work in partnership with sales, marketing, portfolio managers, risk management and other key team members to promote and support the products. The successful candidate will possess knowledge of fixed income, investment management and global economics. Strong written and verbal communication skills will also be key.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work alongside portfolio managers and product strategists to represent the Global Fundamental Fixed Income range of funds to external and internal collaborators.
  • Generate the data and produce materials that are incorporated in our regular reporting.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for positioning, analysis and commentary on portfolios. Write market and investment commentaries for investors, shareholders, current clients and prospects.
  • Support business development activities, including drafting presentation materials and working on RFP responses.
  • Support the external speaking engagements of senior team members and portfolio managers, including working closely with sales teams to understand the meeting objective and points to be covered and converting these into compelling presentations.
  • Closely follow global markets, economic events and political developments.
  • Help to enhance existing processes with new ideas and developing standard methodologies across the fixed income platform.
  • Build internal relationships with sales teams globally to understand potential gaps in the product range and identify industry trends.


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of fixed income asset classes and types of strategies (benchmark orientated, absolute return). Good overall understanding of the asset management industry and capital markets.
  • Strong knowledge of global economics and markets and an interest in current affairs and events.
  • Quantitative skills and eye for detail essential
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to clearly articulate fixed income concepts, ideas, and processes
  • Knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint essential, working knowledge of Bloomberg and other market data systems useful.
  • Candidate should be organized and detailed oriented with the ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in BlackRock systems is a welcome plus but can be learnt.
  • Post graduate qualifications favourable (CFA or MBA etc)
