Reporting to the President, TDECU Holdings, LLC. , the Vice President of Strategic Investments & Ventures (SIV) will oversee the exploration, due diligence, and onboarding of new business acquisitions and investments that will generate a financial return, drive efficiencies, and/or enhance the member experience. The concentric focus for acquisition and investment purposes will be financial services based and/or complementary to the financial services ecosystem.  TDECU Holdings, LLC. is a division of TDECU which encompasses Wealth Management, Insurance, and Strategic Investments and Ventures.

The Vice President of SIV maintains an understanding of industry trends, consumer requirements and expectations, market shifts, and/or vertical integration to interpret as business opportunities for investments and ventures.  This role requires a strong business and finance acumen as well as an innovative and entrepreneurial disposition to assess the opportunity and deploy capital to develop a portfolio of companies to meet the strategic objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads efforts to build diversified income streams by acquiring or investing in companies that are financial services focused and related to servicing consumers or businesses within the financial services ecosystem.
  • Oversees the management of deal sourcing and relationships.
  • Develops a strategic plan based on various scenarios while assessing and interpreting business and consumer trends to derive value-added solutions.
  • Supports the Holdings Company on mergers and acquisition opportunities for existing lines of business and other entities including credit unions and banks.
  • Operates as the lead facilitator and a collaborator to ensure alignment with business partners and professional resources for the onboarding and integration of new business opportunities
  • Designs and architectures the organizational staffing structure to ensure appropriate levels of staffing and resources.
  • Recruit and develop team members needed to meet department objectives and strategy.  Manage, coach, and mentor team with a focus on career development and succession.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in a related field required in Finance, Business, or Strategy.  Master’s degree level preferred

Licensure Preferred:  Certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst or Certified Public Accountant is preferred

Experience:

  • 10 years or more in strategy, mergers, and acquisitions, investment banking, or consulting firm
  • Demonstrated skills in developing deal flow streams, due diligence of strategic investment options, and an entrepreneurial, innovative, and results-oriented skill set

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong finance and business skills to evaluate investment risk against returns
  • Strong strategic and process thinking abilities
  • Takes a broad perspective and makes connections between trends and tangible opportunities and outcomes for short- and long-term performance benefits
  • Unquestionable business and personal integrity and values congruent with those of the organization
  • Results-oriented with the ability to direct or manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills to succinctly articulate the purpose, value, risk, mitigating factors, anticipated outcomes, and other business case elements to both the President of Holdings and other key stakeholders
  • Scenario and case analysis to develop or oversee financial modeling
  • General understanding of banking and financial services

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Hybrid General: On average, employees in this role report to a designated TDECU office location 1-2 days per week. This position is based in Houston, TX and Texas residency is required.
