Corporate Sustainability
Hang Seng Bank (the Bank) places strong emphasis on sustainable business practices, investing in impactful community development initiatives and promoting good corporate citizenship through driving sustainability-related business strategies and active community engagement. Hang Seng has been a constituent stock of the FTSE4 Good Global Index for two decades.
The Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility function is responsible for the Bank's corporate sustainability, climate advocacy and risk, as well as community investment. We are currently seeking a high-calibre professional to join the Bank as Head of Corporate Sustainability. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive of the Bank.

The Head of Corporate Sustainability is to provide leadership in the development and execution of a holistic Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility strategy for the Bank and support the Bank and its customers to advance Group's sustainability agenda in partnership with industry stakeholders.
Principal responsibilities
  • Provide thought-leadership and partner closely with the management team to drive the integration of sustainability and business strategy with a focus on climate and community investment
  • Act as the senior expert and representative for the Bank on sustainability and climate change agenda, including climate innovations, financing transition to Net Zero and investing for social good
  • Lead engagements with regulators, government bodies and other key external stakeholders (including industry associations, investors, key NGOs and think-tanks) on sustainability and climate change agenda
  • Identify new sustainability and low carbon transition related opportunities and solutions and be capable of translating them into actionable business plans and sustainable finance solutions.
  • Drive the Bank's leadership team to showcase commitment on building a sustainable future for Hong Kong by identifying forward-looking and meaningful community investment initiatives and strategic collaborations
  • Provide sustainability-related advice and support to the Board, Sustainability Committee, and Executive Committee of the Bank
  • Lead all aspects of ESG reporting in partnership with Finance and Corporate Communications
  • Lead upskilling of HASE's front-line around sustainability and climate agenda, including through leading the development, socialisation and implementation of strategic client engagements and trainings
Requirements
  • A recognised and credible thought-leader on sustainability, climate change and community investment. Experienced working in a sizable organisation and highly matrixed environment
  • Solid strategic sustainability engagement, business development and NGO partnership-building capabilities, with an established sustainability network, and a track record of delivering results in sustainability, climate and community investment related areas
  • In-depth technical knowledge of climate transition and to deliver commercial growth, innovation, operational efficiencies, enhanced reputation and competitive advantage / market differentiation with local NGO partnerships
  • Purpose-driven with strong problem solving skills. Resilience to drive towards the desired outcome and overcome obstacles
  • Innovative thinking with strong leadership and influencing skills to engage and make meaningful impact across the Bank and its wider ecosystem
  • Effective team player to work collaboratively across businesses, functions and geographies
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes
