The Role: Senior Director, Sector Lead for Transportation, Leasing, Aerospace & Defense

Grade ( relevant for internal applicants only ) 14

The Location: New York, NY

The Team: The US/Canada Corporate Ratings Practice has an opportunity for a Sector Lead role which will include the Transportation, Leasing, and Aerospace & Defense sectors. The role will encompass the analytical leadership and market engagement.

The Impact: As an analytical leader, you will play an active part in raising the external profile of the team. You will drive research and outreach in this space and support analytical consistency and training within the team.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $152,600 to $303,575 . Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct analytical coverage of large US airlines
  • Provide "portfolio-like" coverage and commentary of rating issues and trends in Transportation, Leasing and Aerospace & Defense sectors within the U.S./Canada Corporate Ratings practice
  • Develop market engagement plans and represent S&P Global Ratings in conferences, council meetings and industry events
  • Work collaboratively with other sector analysts and practices on analytical issues and author thought leadership on relevant sector and credit themes.
  • Work with relevant managers and experts to address analytical issues
  • Actively chair and vote on the team's credits, particularly for complex and high-profile issuers.
  • Participate in new issuer, complex and tier 1 management meetings
  • Effectively lead special projects/tasks (criteria, regulatory, analytical, education, planning etc.)
  • Provide a high level of support for the Equipment/Enhanced Equipment Trust Certificate (EETC) criteria and model
  • Provide leadership in Global Industry Focus Team initiatives
  • Provide leadership on ESG related analytical topics and other innovation initiatives
What We're Looking For:
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills; ability to think independently and critically
  • Strong communication skills and market knowledge to build-on and manage relationships with key investors, issuers and influencers, and develop new relationships as part of market outreach activities
  • Ability to work with large data sets that will form the basis of analytics and reports
  • Demonstrated strength of understanding of S&P Global Ratings analytical methodologies
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and multitask
  • Strong team player; promote information sharing
  • Keen ability to coach and mentor others in a complex fasting moving environment
  • Ability to drive efforts in ESG and other innovation initiatives
Basic Qualifications: Graduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field, and/or CFA. 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry with a strong credit background.

This role is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States (no sponsorship available).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong track record of analytical leadership and expertise.
  • Solid organizational management skills.
  • Highly proficient at working with financial models.
  • Ability to manipulate and draw conclusions from large data sets.
  • The ability to work both independently and within a team environment is critical.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
