Control Management safeguards BNY Mellon, our clients and their assets. Our teams provide first line (1LOD) risk and control advisory management primarily supporting Asset Servicing and Issuer Services. Embedded Control partners with Asset Servicing and Issuer Services in relation to Transaction Management, Client Service Management, Process & Product Design, Risk Management, and Regulatory Management. Focus is on mitigating risk, enhancing the control framework, and optimizing client experience.

Job Description:

The role is being a subject matter expert to Business stakeholders in the development of improved Risk and Control Management processes. The candidate will be responsible for leading reviews, the analysis and evaluation of risks and control deficiencies, and recommending remediation plans to be implemented within the Business.

Role objectives:
  • Identifies, analyzes, and monitors areas of control testing, control and risk education, operational and risk support activities, and projects to adjust/create controls to meet regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Leads projects and may assign work to other team members.
  • Leads control and risk management design and execution testing and reporting, including analysis of Errors / Near Misses.
  • Adhere to policy requirements and timeframes
  • Operating with a high degree of independence, conducts, analyses and leads projects to improve internal controls that keep up with regulations and corporate standards.
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders.
  • Identifies areas for improvement in the process.
  • Works with the Business to understand the control framework and to minimize risk.
  • Reviews documentation for evidence of successful and efficient performance of controls.
  • Identifies deficiencies in data systems and creates processes to improve deficiencies.
  • Assists in analyzing technology and market trends to determine potential risks to the organization and how to address risks across businesses.
  • May supervise the work of junior control professionals.
  • Supports multiple, complex projects and owns project timelines.
  • Provides input into the development of controls and protocols for the function.

  • Excellent time management skills - Ability to meet strict deadlines, prioritize work as required and deliver high-quality results with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good written communication

Bachelors' degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. Advanced degree preferred. 7-10 years of total work experience preferred. Experience in the securities or financial services industry is preferred. Knowledge around Risk and Controls Framework and streamlining the process preferred
