Market Development & Engagement Group is an integral part of the price assessment content team and collaborates across all functions within Platts globally. Mainly focused on price assessment methodology development and deployment, the group also manages participant access to our window price assessment processes and the dissemination of market reporting best practices. Many of Price Group functions are designed to deliver on our governance model based on our Editorial Standards.

The Impact : Oversee the development life cycle for pricing methodology as well as best practice in marketing reporting. Provide thought leadership in market evolution, methodology change and development, maintaining the highest standards and integrity of Platts price assessments. Work in a matrix with content leadership on strategic goals and projects.

This includes:
  • Oversees an eight member team which partners with 8 commodity sectors across all aspects of methodology development/change and market reporting best practice.
  • Leads conceptualization of new price assessment methodology ideas, - driving the evolution of benchmark development for both Established and Emerging markets (i.e. JKM(LNG) and IODEX (iron ore), Dated Brent)
  • Drives Cross commodity external engagement supporting methodology research and development collaborating on broad global commodity market education with the Strategic Engagement & Intelligence Group,
  • Leads market issue resolution in Collaboration with commodity teams and Price Group aimed at developing the highest industry price assessment standards and processes vital for industry confidence in our data and information.
  • Collaboration across the Market Development & Engagement Group to drive the full life cycle of pricing benchmark methodology evolution and to drive consistent execution of Platts methodology and the maintenance of robust price assessments.
  • Champions high standard of adoption and execution of the methodology process across all 8 commodity sectors, and leads methodology reviews and approvals as defined by Platts Methodology Change standard.
  • Leads methodology development and change process in line with Platts governance model and is aligned with the IOSCO Principles for Price Reporting Agencies and the EBMR.
  • Investigates and resolves assessment complaints and in-depth price reviews, building confidence in the integrity of Platts processes and standards.
  • Leads the Market Reporting Best Practice Program - establishing critical operational norms in alignment and across all pricing commodity groups. Throught the Price Group team - the Program drives best practice through front-line price reporting training and management training to ensure integrity across Platts price assessments.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the methodology development and best practice functions.
  • Partner on global price assessment methodology development working with the commodity leadership and managers.
  • Lead the evolution and implementation of Best Practice in market reporting with frontline editors and demonstrate best practice in market reporting and implementation of methodology
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and connection across the global price reporting teams.
  • Lead the development of talent across pricing and within the Price Group function
  • Ensure experienced pricing and methodology leaders are available and aligned to fulfil Price Groups charter of support the commodity pricing groups market reporting functions and Platts governance model.
  • Consult, advise and collaborate with the Sector heads and the content leadership team on market and methodology development / new markets.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders on methodology change projects and collaborate with other functional groups such as BCQ, Product, Product Development, and Commercial.
  • Lead editorial governance through appropriate capture of key change procedures and processes for methodology development and methodology change projects.
  • Raise the profile of Commodity Insights prices/benchmarks/methodology and its unique Price Group function through presentation opportunities at industry events/conferences raising the visibility of Platts.
  • Manage price assessment complaints, escalating to Sector head and Price Group colleagues as appropriate to ensure resolution.
  • Jointly approving corrections as required in line with editorial standards.

Qualifications:
  • Proven strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and ability to influence across the organization
  • Previous management experience and strong leadership ability which utilizes influence and promotes team collaboration and development as well as personal accountability
  • Subject matter expert in commodities/trading/markets and the competitive landscape and specialized knowledge of at least one commodity sector.
  • Degree educated (business, finance, economics, etc..) with 8+ years in pricing with a detailed knowledge of assessment methods and processes for executing changes to pricing methodology and the introduction of new pricing assessments
  • Proven strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and ability to influence across the organization.
  • Tenacity and the ability to gain buy-in to decisions and drive issues to completion
  • Strong presentation skills to present at industry events, professional associations, and conferences.
  • Assertive with independent mind who operates with facts and pushes back with respect
Compensation/Benefits Information (This section is only applicable to US candidates):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $107,100 to $ 212,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
