About this role

Internal Audit

Internal Audit serves as an independent assurance and advisory function at BlackRock that enhances and protects organizational value by providing risk based and objective assessment, advice, and insight. Our team is global, and our mandate is to objectively assess the adequacy and effectiveness of BlackRock's internal control environment to improve risk management, control, and governance processes. To maintain independence, Internal Audit reports directly to the Audit Committee of the BlackRock Inc. Board of Directors and administratively to the President of BlackRock, Inc.

Data Analytics

Internal Audit's Data Analytics (DA) team leverages various data science, business intelligence, and analytics methods to assess BlackRock's control environment. DA team members may design and perform certain tests for audits of BlackRock's business units (including investment and asset management, risk management, operations, finance, and legal and compliance) as well as technology controls, across application systems and infrastructure components (such as databases, operating systems, data centers and messaging platforms). The DA team is also responsible for building and maintaining an inventory of self-service tools for the auditors, supporting the risk assessment of auditable units for the annual planning process, and developing timely and accurate management information to help drive efficiencies and insight in the department's operation.

Role Description:

The DA team is looking for an innovative self-starter who is eager to learn new technologies and work with others to have an impact. We value creativity and encourage our team members to challenge the status quo of how audits and audit testing is performed.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in asset management, investment banking, or other financial services organization with a demonstratable understanding of the investment process, investment products, risk, and risk management.

  • Excellent business communication skills, distilling key messages as well as quantitative and technical information clearly.
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior team members.
  • Ability to provide input to and influence the strategic development of the data analytics program including the design and implementation of tools and technologies, assurance activities, development, delivery, and distribution of data analytics presentations, training, and methodology.

Desired Characteristics:

You'll stand out if you demonstrate:
  • Intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to solve complex, ambiguous problems
  • A strong desire to develop creatively and promote innovation while also taking direction and feedback with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with both structured and unstructured data.
