For our ILS Team in Zurich we are looking for a highly motivated Underwriting Assistant. This person in charge of the operational flow of ILS transactions from their origination to the completion of the full documentation.

For our ILS Team in Zurich we are looking for a highly motivated Underwriting Assistant. This person in charge of the operational flow of ILS transactions from their origination to the completion of the full documentation.
Underwriting Assistant - Insurance Linked Securities (ILS)
Job specification
- Download external data and set up private and public transactions (i.e. collaterized reinsurance, cat bonds, catbond lites, sidecars) in Schroders transaction administration system (ILMA) and Whiteboard
- Liaise and closely cooperate with Aon insurance manager (Guernsey) and Schroders Operations on trustee related tasks (trust funding, KYC, monitoring of trustee counterparty limits and fees, selection of eligible collateral investments and collateral roll-over).
- Liaise with reinsurance brokers to obtain necessary information for the transaction process and execution (additional submission information, contract wordings and amendments, I&L agreements)
- Follow KYC process and perform screening for new cedants based on Schroders Legal and Compliance guidelines and framework
- Perform ESG transaction assessments, engage and work close with the Schroders Capital ILS ESG project team
- Actively chase for cedent loss information and report on developments for single transactions and portfolios
- Participate in meetings with broker and cedents
Required profile
- Higher education ideally combined with a further education
- Extensive knowledge of the reinsurance market and transaction securitizations for ILS Fund investments
- Profound understanding of ILS Fund operations
- Strong analytical skills and ability to deliver and explain technical material
- Ability to review, analyse and report on qualitative and quantitative information, prioritize work, make decisions, and manage time effectively with minimal or no supervision
- Interest to learn and proactive contributions to other areas outside of the initial field of expertise are essential
- Pragmatic, efficient, and effective achiever in reaching conclusions, decisions and objectives (self-learner)
- Ability to collaborate across functions in a small and dynamic environment - Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining an excellent team spirit - good team player
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Power BI) and proficiency in Excel required, knowledge of programming languages is a plus
- Basic knowledge of Cat modelling vendor tools and pricing methods is required
- Fluency in English is essential, German a big plus, other languages a benefit
