The Role: Low Carbon Gas Pricing Analyst, Energy Transition

The Team: S&P Global Commodity Insights is the leading provider of energy pricing, news and analytics. We are seeking an Associate Editor to take over our Low Carbon Gas Coverage in the US, as part of the Global Energy Transition Carbon price reporting team. This role will be based in our downtown Houston office. This role will report to the Team Leader for Low Carbon Commodities and will be responsible for growing our coverage of Methane Performance Certificates, as well as exploring other low carbon gas opportunities across the Americas.

The Impact: The global Carbon Pricing Team sits within the larger Energy Transition Group at S&P Global Commodity Insights and is responsible for developing and publishing key Platts benchmark assessments for the Voluntary and Compliance Carbon Markets, as well as working directly with both internal and external stakeholders in the development of low carbon benchmarks and carbon intensity methodologies across a wide array of differing commodities.

Maintaining Commodity Insights' competitive edge in this rapidly evolving space is of highest priority. The team is small and close-knit, which will provide the successful applicant with opportunities to travel and to speak at high-profile conferences and Commodity Insights events.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and publish the MPC price and market rationale daily while developing new sources in this rapidly growing market.
  • Review and manage industry feedback on market and methodology issues in the Low Carbon Gas space including, but not limited to Methane Performance Certificates, Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and Producer Certified Gas (PCG).
  • Ensure a consistent implementation of the methodology in daily assessments as well as providing clear communication of the methodology both internally and externally.
  • Contribute to news coverage in the Low Carbon Gas space, and stay on top of new developments in this rapidly developing market to ensure.
  • Manage external engagement activities and serves as subject matter expert.
  • Ensure adherence to the IOSCO Principles for Price Reporting Agencies, working with the Market Assessment Quality team.
What We're Looking For:
  • Degree educated with at least one years' experience of reporting, analysis or editorial experience.
  • Proven public speaking abilities. This position will provide a number of different opportunities to present Platts' existing and future Low Carbon Gas methodologies to audiences both large and small.
  • Ability to work to intra-day deadlines in high-pressure environments. Our processes are daily and we have frequent intraday deadlines. Demonstrating success within the team depends on excellent time-management skills.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $49,400 to $98,200 . Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
