An exciting opportunity to join a global retail company.Reporting to the Accountant, the main responsibility of this role will be supporting the day to day Accounting functions of the business including month end close, reporting and reconciliations.

Your new role
  • Possess thorough understanding of Fixed Asset accounting standard, tax ruling, and company policies
  • Able to delivery of timely and accurately Fixed Asset capitalisation, disposals, reconciliation and reporting for both accounting and tax purposes
  • Assist with indirect tax functions, including but not limit to GST setups on products and preparation of BAS return
  • Assist with direct tax functions, including but not limit to preparation of income tax return
  • Month end closing and reporting
  • Analyze Profit and Loss Statements to calculate and process appropriate accruals as required
  • Maintain integrity of general ledger by ensuring that all journals posted are complete, accurate and substantiated
  • Be able to research, understand and interpret accounting standards and apply knowledge on day to day workings
  • Able to provide commentaries for variances between actual, forecast and rolling budgets
  • Assist with monthly forecasting and annual budget preparation
  • Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations with required supporting documentation and follow up with outstanding items
  • Ad-hoc duties as required

What you'll need to succeed
  • Must have 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience with exposure to vendor statement reconciliation
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Tertiary study in accounting preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professional in both verbally and writing
  • Must have a strong work ethic and display a positive "can do" attitude
  • Must be well organised and have strong time management skills, have the ability to manage multiple issues and schedule follow ups with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to take responsibility for one's own performance, be able to set goals and expectations and is able to report on progress
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
