The Institutional Equity Division (IED) is a global leader in the origination, distribution and trading of equity, equity-linked and equity-derivative securities. The Firm's equity Sales & Trading operations provide liquidity, distribute content, and create product solutions to help our clients generate alpha. The Equity Financing Products department acts as a strategic partner to more than 800 top hedge fund managers: executing and clearing trades across asset classes, time zones, and currencies; providing financing and expertise to help manage risk and benefit from technology; and consults to help launch new funds and connect with them potential investors.
PLACEMENT AND DURATION
The Sales & Trading Off-Cycle Internship Program is an opportunity to experience the culture and atmosphere in the Sales & Trading Division by taking on some of the roles and responsibilities of a Full-time Analyst for a period. The Program length varies between three to six months, depending on business needs and candidate availability. You will be assigned to the Morgan Stanley Equity Business Unit Risk desk where you will directly support the EMEA BURM team including undertaking projects to broaden your understanding, as well as improve the productivity and efficiency of the desk.
Business Unit Risk Management ("BURM") is a 1st line team within IED which covers several risk areas, including Non-Market Risk, Regulatory Risk, Franchise Risk and Conduct Risk. BURM acts as the 1st Line of Defence and are responsible for all aspects of IED Non-Market Risk in EMEA, including the operational risk control framework. In addition, the team is responsible for implementing new controls and process resulting from new regulation or new business initiatives/products.
This Off-Cycle internship is available in our Morgan Stanley Frankfurt office, Morgan Stanley's head office in the EU.
TRAINING PROGRAM
You will receive on-the-job training and benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Analysts are hired onto specific desks where they remain for the duration of their program.
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS
- You have strong analytical and numerical skills that put you at ease with financial data.
- You are results-driven, and perform well under pressure and against tight deadlines.
- You are a proven team player and can manage a wide range of responsibilities.

- You have an excellent academic background and fluency in English.
