About this role

Within the BlackRock's Institutional Business, our marketing team is a leader in developing integrated programs and channel strategies that drive stakeholder engagement, position BlackRock as a solutions provider and drive commercial results. The U.S. and Canada Institutional Marketing team's mission is to embrace innovation and deliver diverse perspectives to help institutional clients (pensions, endowments, family office, foundations and other B2B organizations) navigate markets and uncertainty so they better serve their constituents. The team has several opportunities for highly motivated Associates to be an integral part of our marketing strategy, client journeys and digital amplifications.

As part of the U.S. and Canada Institutional Marketing team, our Marketing Associates partner with client and product teams to execute high impact content-led marketing initiatives that amplify our brand, engage external audiences, and help drive pipeline growth across BlackRock's institutional business priorities . We are offering qualified candidates an opportunity to enjoy a dynamic marketing role with responsibility across a broad remit. This is an opportunity for candidates to cultivate different skills that align with a diverse set of career paths and specialize in one or more of the following areas:
  • Event strategy and brand activation: Coordination of in-person and digital client events, third party sponsorships and content partnerships, scripting narratives for events, web, video, etc.
  • Client journey lifecycle marketing and segmentation: Develop curated experiences for institutional segments including email campaigns, empathetic messaging and targeted engagement with specific institutional segments
  • Digital marketing and client engagement: Manage digital campaigns, journeys, and enhancements across email and web from ideation to execution to optimization/reporting, focused around ICB's ambitious digital lead generation strategy


The ideal candidates will also have knowledge of one or several of the following: current marketing trends, investment writing, segmentation and designing automated journeys to engage prospects and clients at various points of the sales life cycle; familiarity with the asset management industry; an understanding of institutional sales process and the various client types; execution of scalable, prospect and client-facing activities; understanding of investment products and strategies; digital marketing; data analysis.

Key responsibilities may include, but is not limited to a combination of the following tasks:
  • Support U.S. and Canada ICB business objectives by crafting initial drafts of emails, event narratives, digital ads and other marketing collateral and shepherding through the editing and compliance process
  • Ongoing monitoring and measurement of program effectiveness and ROI will be a critical component of the ICB Marketing Associates remit, which may involve tracking paid advertising, improving CTA clickthroughs, email open rates, distribution list management and email optimization and reporting
  • Create, repackage and adapt content and messaging across a variety of marketing mediums including digital, webcasts, mass marketing emails, and advertising and syndication to drive focus to key client segment and commercial priorities.
  • Liaise with product and investment teams to ensure coordination and enable idea flow to execute on content initiatives
  • Craft event narratives (in-person, digital and sponsored) that will be engaging and differentiated in the marketplace from agendas to event collateral, to speaker scripts and talking points
  • Strategically align "always on" marketing programs and other go-to market activities into marketing campaigns through integration and sequencing of thought leadership to drive a seamless client experience
  • Set benchmarks and collect and analyze marketing program KPIs for email, webcast, events, website, and other client engagement activities to improve marketing effectiveness, client satisfaction and generate leads
  • Creatively incept sales enablement tools to engage the sales teams in client-facing activities, familiarize them with our key messages and enable and encourage follow-up
  • Coordinate with other marketing teams across BlackRock globally to be informed, learn and leverage best practices
  • Partner across the firm to improve our email marketing processes and capabilities by staying on top of current trends, tools BLK makes available and what is working successfully for competitors
  • Improve our marketing database through new contact acquisition, creating a process to ensure our database contacts are the right audience for our institutional marketing, and enhancing the contact profile based on interests and intent


Desired experience:
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a high-performance team environment - adaptable, reliable with a strong can-do attitude and focused on delivering assignments by deadlines
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to coordinate across multiple functions and stakeholders across ICB, Global Marketing, investment teams, and other content generating teams across the firm more broadly
  • Experience in financial services industry preferred, preferably in a content-heavy role such as marketing, investment communications or RFP writing, or in a client-support role; a desire to learn about the markets and investing is a plus
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability and/or willingness to frame, structure, and execute projects and open-ended concepts
  • Passion for data-driven marketing, digital media, content marketing, innovation and emerging technologies
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments without compromising high quality work in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Results-oriented with strong attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and comfort in working autonomously and across various teams and different levels of seniority
  • Sound and unbiased judgment, professionalism, and discretion
  • High level of self-motivation with strong integrity and ethics
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint


For digital marketing specifically
  • Experience using enterprise level email automation tools such as Eloqua, Marketo, or Pardot for the building of one-off emails as well as automated lead qualifying campaigns
  • Experience testing and optimizing the digital user experience based on data analysis
  • Experience using client databases to identify audiences for targeted campaigns
