The Role
S&CSPO are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated EL1 Commercial to lead our Commercial Support Team. The position requires excellent interpersonal, negotiation, procurement and financial management skills.

As the Commercial Manager, you will be adept at managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors. You will balance a complex relationship of commercial, capability and financial demands, in support of S&C operations.

Specific duties will include:
  • Management of the Program Support Offices commercial Governance and Assurance outcomes.
  • Manage commercial resources to meet operational capability requirements across the SPO.
  • Assist in strategic planning for the section.
  • Ensuring enterprise stakeholder relationships are maintained.


You will lead a team of staff to achieve these outcomes. Collaboratively managing and resolving contract risks and issues as well as identifying opportunities and bringing together Defence and Industry partners in the focus of capability requirements is integral to the role.

You will possess a high level of commercial knowledge and experience, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement to deliver outcomes in a complex and technical environment.

The candidate will be agile and capable in managing risk and achieving outcomes in a collaborative manner, and will be able to lead and influence outcomes within the team environment.

About our Team
S&CSPO leads a program portfolio of complex projects in Rotary, Aerospace & Surveillance Systems Division. By supporting S&CSPO's mission to deliver and support leading edge Surveillance and Control Systems and Services through the Enterprise you will play an instrumental role in shaping Surveillance and Control systems for Defence.

You will be joining a team that is focused on acquiring and managing both Major and Minor Capital Equipment Acquisition projects to upgrade and enhance assigned airspace control, surveillance and communication systems and introducing these systems into operational service.

Projects include AIR 5431 Phases 1 and 2, AIR 6500 Phase 1 Tranche 1, and capability assurance projects for Air Navigation and Air Battlespace Management.S&CSPO is located in the Newcastle Region at RAAF Base Williamtown.
