The State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) is seeking a Senior Securities Trader to join its Investments Team.  Approximately 70% of STRS Ohio’s investment assets are managed internally by more than 100 Investment Department professionals. STRS Ohio’s investment returns for the one-, three-, five-, and 10-year time periods ending June 30, 2022, ranked in the top 10% of Callan’s public fund sponsor database of more than 200 public funds. The Role:

Under the direction of the head trader, responsible for all aspects of STRS Ohio’s trading operation.  Assist portfolio managers by providing market intelligence to successfully implement portfolio strategies.  The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment with the ability to multitask while paying special attention to detail.



  • Buy and sell global equity and equity derivative securities as directed by the portfolio managers, Equities.
  • Provide technical market analysis to portfolio managers and industry analysts.
  • Participate in the development, coordination and implementation of global order flow, portfolio, and derivative trading strategies.
  • Evaluate prospective Brokerages and services and make recommendations based on their merits.
  • Analyze and rate trading capabilities of major Wall Street brokerage houses to enhance STRS Ohio execution of transactions.
  • Assist the securities processing section with clearing and settlement procedures and resolve trading-related problems.



  • Bachelor's degree in business administration required.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder preferred.
  • Five or more years equity trading experience required; ten years preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of the overall equity markets required.
  • Ability to work with and preserve confidential information required.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills required.
  • Superior organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required.
  • Excellent record of attendance and punctuality.
